  • More from the Lightscapes Set This is another photo taken a few minutes after sun rise

  • This beautiful river scene sunset was photographed from the south bank of the Hastings River at the Boundary Street Ferry Wharf in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia , on a mid-winter’s day. Milady Fuji was sitting high and proud on her tripod, with the White Balance set to Sunny due to the glare from the sky and nearest boat, the ISO to 100 for the good Image Quality and to minimise Noise, and with Spot Metering, Centre Focussing, Continuous Focus and Fast Shooting settings completing the set-up. / I chose the 1/500sec Shutter Speed in Shutter Priority as I had some previous success using this setting on some sunset shots and found it helps control the Exposure very well in these conditions as well as freezing any motion quite well. / (Fortunately it froze the flying Pelican. Can you spot him?) :) / After an earlier test shot under the same conditions and a check of the Histogram, I found I did not need any Exposure Compensation. / After I set the Timer to 2 seconds, I pre-focussed on the brightest area on the nearest boat, framed the shot, locked the tripod, squeezed the trigger and after the “Beep! Beep! Beeeeep! Kachunk!” … here it is! Visit the Sunrise-Sunset collection in my BubbleSite Gallery for more delightful sunset scenes. • The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. How many men were lost at sea and how many made it home with wild stories of his adventure aboard the Icelandic Harvester. / / Shot with a Canon 400D and processed in Lightroom 2. / / NautilusBlue / / nominated this image to be showcased in the group Pay It Forward and this is what she had to say… / / Ice Breaker / by Kevin Kroeker / I think it is an outstanding image with great composition ( great leading lines) with lots of drama and the colours are amazing . It shows us the harshness of the climate. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

  • Camera Details: / Nikon D70s , Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC Location: / Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands Map: / Road Map , Terrain , Satellite Copyright: / © Brendan Schoon , All rights reserved. Background Information: / The Erasmusbrug (“Erasmus Bridge”) is a cable stayed bridge across the Nieuwe Maas river, linking the northern and southern halves of the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. / The Erasmusbrug was designed by Ben van Berkel and completed in 1996. The 808 metre long bridge has a 139 metre-high asymmetrical pylon, earning the bridge its nickname of “The Swan”. The southern span of the bridge has a 89 metre long bascule bridge for ships that cannot pass under the bridge. The bascule bridge is the largest and heaviest in West Europe and has the largest panel of its type in the world. The bridge was officially opened by Queen Beatrix on September 6, 1996, having cost 165 million Dutch guilders (about 75 million euros) to construct. Shortly after the bridge opened to traffic in October 1996, it was discovered the bridge would swing under particularly strong wind conditions. To reduce the trembling, stronger shock dampers were installed. The bridge was featured in the 1998 Jackie Chan film Who Am I? In 2005 several planes flew underneath the bridge as part of the “Red Bull Air Race”. In 2005, the bridge served as the backdrop for a performance by Dj Tiësto titled “Tiësto @ The Bridge, Rotterdam”. The performance featured fire fighting ships spraying jets of water into the air in front of the bridge, a fireworks barge launching fireworks beside the bridge, and multi colored spot/search lights attached to the bridge itself. • Liquid Watercolor on Yupo (Robert Doak paint) These poor little fishies don’t have a chance with this big guy coming at them. Yet that is the underwater world – big fish eat little fish. Sometimes I don’t like reality, but it is what it is, and part of life is accepting things as they are, and often it is not on our terms. I guess this shows my soft spot for the little guy, the underdog. Swim little fishies swim, with all your heart, mind and energy!!

  • A bit different for me – a landscape with no land, or sky!! Acrylic on canvas 16” x 20” I am delighted that this painting has been viewed 630 times and favourited 16 times so far – thank you!
