  • A lot of people wouldn’t connect Winter with love and romance, however, our couple is very active and the idea of winter recreation, such as cross country sking, followed up by a warm crackling fire, sounded like just the thing. / In the Fall, our young man popped the marriage question and they decided on a Winter marriage right before Christmas. They had a wonderful church wedding, followed by a great reception, surrounded by their friends. This is their honeymoon spot. They found a small cabin, located in the mountains, to rent. It had all of the ambiance that they needed for a memorable honeymoon. The first night that they stayed in the cabin, it snowed. How beautiful it was, the morning of their first day of married life. The snow sparkled in the sunlight and they went out for some cross country sking. By late afternoon they were tired enough to retire by the fire. They had a late evening repast that they had brought with them, a full picnic type dinner with wine and a delicious chocolate desert. How thrilled they were to find that the moon had come out and it was full. What a wonderful day they had, the moonlit night just seemed like a perfect ending to it. After all maybe that is why it is called a “Honey Moon”........ Sorry I couldn’t resist! I hope that you have enjoyed my little story. Such as it could be, if 2 unattached people, who loved photography, found one another. It all could start at a stream in Spring time and end up under the moon light, in a cabin, by a lake, in the Winter. Thanks to all who viewed my images and read my little story. I appreciate your support and encouragement. Original background image taken in Shady Cove, Oregon. / The cabin is one that I had painted into a winter painting. It was added as a composite, along with the moon. The flood filter was added to create the lake.

  • An acrylic painting on canvas paper of a winter wonderland. We have sun and heat here but I always remember my childhood Christmases being White. So this is my idea of what a White Christmas should look like in Australia. (Also a Christmas card version of this painting in my portfolio). White Christmas Christmas Eve we were all aglow / with the heat of the sun there was no snow! / At the end of the day Santa would be on his way.. / with toys and gifts piled high in his sleigh! / I wish he could give us a snow surprise, / as we turned out the lights we peeked outside. / To our delight a winter wonderland we saw, / a white Christmas we will have, who could ask for more! • Then came the reassuring voice of the angel of the Lord: “For unto you is born, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10, 11). • Drew saves the day and all is well in the village of Yewof-in-Kernow From my children’s story “Once Upon A Winter’s Turning”, originally published by Wooden Books. The tale features a young lad from Kernow called Drew Widdershins. When a dose of the flu looks like it’s going to scupper the village’s Winter Solstice celebrations Drew, along with the stones from the local stone circle on the moor, must track down the ingredients for his mother’s heal-all herbal remedy. This book has been out of print for some time now, so I’ve decided to offer those illustrations from the book that would make ideal greetings cards or prints. / Also available as a greetings card / Also available: Drew Widdershin’s Magic Calendar
