/ . / I had some requests of a portrait shot of my photo entitled “Luna over Luna Park”. Luckily, I had taken the shot. I’m not great at giving photos titles, hence the title for this one. This was taken on the same night of my other photos “Luna Over Luna Park”, “Luna Harbour” and “Luna PANORAMA”. The photos were taken in quite quick succession. I attempted to combine the full moon, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You might be interested in viewing the other photos because this is in Portrait, two are in Landscape, and one PANORAMA. It’s amazing how a similar subject can be photographed in slightly different ways, and produce different results. I will interested in knowing which of the four is you favourite !

Worth going to Larger for this one – heaps more stars. Storm off Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park. This shot has all my favourite elements in one image – the moon, stars, lightning, storm clouds, and ocean. What a treat this night was – getting some fantastic storms here. This is about the sixth I’ve photographed. There are two lightning cells here – the white one under the moon and the orange one off to the right of the main cloudbank. This is one shot in a continuous sequence of 100 I shot to create a startrails version. Unfortunately my computer is choking on processing that many 50mb files at once so may be delayed in posting the startrails version. Part of the Raging Stillness series this is a blend of 10 X 30 second exposures taken as part of a series of 110 sequential images during a particularly lovely night storm we had a little while ago. You’re looking at 5minutes of the storm at its height. Thanks for your help George Lenz / Layers and blends used in PhotoShop… / By using Photoshop, I used 4 different layers here to configure this piece. This is definately one of the most beautiful places of the world, at the most beautiful time of the day :) Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland. 1000’s of Rainbow Lorikeets fly above, in their afternoon social time, hanging out in the tall Gum Trees. If you stand within 50 metres of the tree, you can’t hear yourself think for the noise, it’s so wonderful an experience! This colour happens most nights, but this cloud formation does not happen often at all, in my opinion, the perfect sky :) I hope you enjoy this shot, as much as I enjoyed shooting this one. Available Large, and best viewed large. Actual print size is 1600mm x 1000mm. Canon 50D, 10mm, no filters needed, as this was the true colour of the evening.

Finally I got some luck with the Full Moonset and no clouds.. Not a cloud in sight this morning, and the moon was beautiful setting over Mount Cooroy. I have been doing tests lately with composition of moonrises and moonsets. If you take the shot with a massive zoom, from a few 1000 metres away, the moon is beautiful and large! I have learnt to throw away the 10mm lens for these kind of shots! Moonset of Thursday, 6th August, 2009 – 6:04am. Over the Noosa River, Noosa Sound, looking over Noosaville. Canon 5D Mk II, 800mm (400mm + 2x Tamron). Available very large, and best viewed Large!

Moonrise of 6th August, 2009 – 5:45pm. Sunshine Beach, Noosa Headlands rocks. Unfortunately this evening there was some cloud on the horizon, so the moon was late getting up. I have everything set up to get this pelican as a silhouette over the rising moon too.. Bugger! As it turns out, the clouds actually gave this shoot a dramatic dynamic anyhow, and the well behaved pelican stood nice and still for the shooting, dispite the wave spray.. I think he was captivated with this beautiful moon! I just couldn’t get the camera low enough to use the 800mm with this and get land in the shot, as for the cloud.. Canon 5D Mk II, 250mm. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret / Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. It lies approximately 40 miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Songsong village is the largest and most populated followed by Sinapalo village (Sinapalu). In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain. Its antithesis, a gazing ball, / popular in Victorian and modern gardens, is suspended above it. Perhaps / hinting at the subliminal message, the gazing ball mirrors a very real world with tree, water, and sky; / rather than the ideal fantasy that we see before us. / Tiny remnants of petals float in the blue, luminous atmosphere. Desirée has repeated their skeletal / veins in the lower petals of the central flower; so that we know the air is filled with petals pulled from / the larger one. Was this a “He Loves me, he loves me not” scenario—a child’s game with Daisies that / gets replayed in various intonations when we are adults? The video accompanying the piece is a track, “I Belong to You”, from British alternative rock band, / Muse, from their album, The Resistance, released in Europe mid September 2009. / Remembering that the ultimate key to unlock the mystery of Glanville’s art is in the paired music, / it’s of importance that the song and lyrics regard one who travels half the world to tell their muse “I / Belong to You”. / Mid-song, from this British band, are French verses, sung with such emotion to melt the soul. / They are borrowed from Camille Saint-Saëns’ opera, “Samson and Delilah”. / Delilah sings these verses to seduce Samson, in a famous aria in Act II, “Mon coeur s’ouvre ta / voix” (“My heart opens itself to your voice”, or commonly “Softly awakes my heart”). / Ah! réponds à ma tendresse! / Verse-moi, verse-moi l’ivresse! / translated: / Ah! respond to my tenderness! / Fill me with ecstasy! / It’s uncertain, here, whether Desirée is presenting the side of the muse as a reaction to the / overtures, or the perspective of the one presenting overtures of tenderness to their heart’s desire. / It could be either or both, probably determined by the perspective of the viewer. / This is where fine art brings the viewer in as co-artist, to complete the work. Desirée seems to me / to have accomplished that spiritual merger here. / Either way, Desirée has input in the matter. Remember the gazing ball in the garden.
