Montmartre, Paris If you look closely you’ll see this photo taken by my fiance Richard. The difference is that I had the wide angle lens and he had the 200m zoom lens…

I really liked this vantage point of the Eiffel Tower. : Paris Calendar: / :
View over the rooftops of Paris to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur.
/ My Paris is from my photo collection…candid photos from the days before digital...we took this just outside, as we soaked up the atmosphere, and dreamed of seeing Picasso walk in…. Lapin Agile is a famous Montmartre cabaret, at 22 Rue des Saules, Paris, France. / It was originally called “Cabaret des Assassins”. Tradition relates that the cabaret received this name because a band of assassins broke in and killed the owner’s son. The cabaret was more than twenty years old when, in 1875, the artist Andre Gill painted the sign that was to suggest its permanent name. It was a picture of a rabbit jumping out of a saucepan, and residents began calling their neighborhood night-club “Le Lapin à Gill”, “Gill’s rabbit”. / Over time the name evolved into “Cabaret Au Lapin Agile”, or, the Nimble Rabbit Cabaret. At the turn of the twentieth century, the Lapin Agile was a favorite spot for struggling artists and writers, including Picasso, Modigliani, Apollinaire, and Utrillo. / At the Lapin Agile By Picasso / In the celebrated work, now an icon of life in bohemian Paris at the turn of the century, Picasso depicts himself dressed as a Harlequin, accompanied by Germaine Pichot. Frédé, the owner of the cabaret Le Lapin Agile, strums his guitar in the background. Picasso’s great friend Casagemas committed suicide in 1901 because his love for Pichot had not been returned. This picture was painted four years later. / Photo of the Lapin Agile in 1872
I used to do lots of pen and ink work and then I started doing colourful “bendy” buildings. Pen and ink takes me longer (much longer sometimes) than colour work, but I thought it was time I did another. I took a chance and drew one of my favourite Paris views … but I used a subtle form of my “bendy buildings” style for a lot of the picture. PLEASE NOTE: THIS LOOKS BETTER ENLARGED. Featured in the Art Nouveau Group-Thank you / / One of only two remaining (of this style) Metro signs in Paris. Originally there were 20 of these around Paris but were removed in the 60’s and 70’s during a period of “modernisation”. The last two are now preserved as historical sites and represent the best of designer Hector Guimard’s Art Nouveau style for Parisien public structures. This style of Metro entrance was supposed to represent a dragon fly opening it’s wings. This one is at Abbesses (Montmartre) and the other is at Pointe Dauphine.

Montmartre, Paris
Shot in 2004 with my awesome old Rollieflex that I got for $200 on Ebay. The world is SO much prettier through its viewfinder.
Sacre Coeur, Paris. The amazingly original basilica is located in Montmartre, leading to the highest point of Paris city. First constructed in 1875, it was not completed until 1914, due to a problematic law system that almost stopped construction entirely. Only saved by a loophole, construction finally continued to the end. I didn’t get to spend as much time here as I would normally like to, but the climb to the top of the tower was worth it for the incredible view of the city below. Original shot layered twice, with 3 textures, colour altering of each layer, blending of layers, further colour altering and an omni light effect.
