Puerto Morelos, Mexico. March 2005 The Yucatan Penninsula was hit hard in October 2004 by Hurricane Wilma. The area is not immune to tropical rains, but Wilma was different. The storm moved slowly and the resulting rainfall was devasting. The effects were seen during our visit six months later. This photo was a natural. The boat, the sand, the beautiful blue sky and surrounding water, with the reminder of the storm being the pillar at the walkway down to the beach. Poster for Ethiopian feature film “13 Months of Sunshine.” “13 Months of Sunshine” is the story of an Ethiopian man who marries a woman so she can get a green card and become a citizen of the United States. In exchange, her family pays him $20,000, enough to open up his own dream business—an authentic Ethiopian coffee house. During the year-long naturalization process, they must learn to live with each other, finding that the marriage of convenience becomes complicated through love, jealousy, and the clash of cultural values each must face in following their dreams. Hanna is a beautiful Ethiopian girl who is quickly drawn into the world of fashion. Meeting Morris Benton, a fashion agent specializing in Ethiopian models, Hanna learns that the world of modeling forces her to question her traditional values in the face of pressure to conform to American standards. The call of coffee, of fashion, and the unspoken desires of each character all collide in a colorful, comedic, and heartwarming tale that speaks both to the immigrant spirit and to the American dream. As Solomon and Hanna draw closer together they discover that life is filled with things that complicate and confuse them, and they must decide what is important.
These make excellent birthday cards ! I am designing 12 images based around the months of the year and the old Celtic luna months. They will reflect the changing of the seasons and the ever turning wheel of the year, the magic and mystery attatched to each part of the cycle and any special festivals falling in those months. I hope you enjoy them as much as I am enjoying creating them :) Blessings Angie*
I TOOK THIS PHOTO OF CHEWBACCA THIS VERY DAY. NOV 19 2008 IS JUST 5 DAYS AWAY FROM HIS BIRTHDAY. NOT HIS FIRST YEAR BIRTHDAY, BECAUSE HE IS “NOT QUITE 9 MONTHS OLD”. CHEWBACCA IS ALREADY BECOMING A VERY HANDSOME LOOKING BOY. OF COURSE, HE WAS QUITE GOOD LOOKING SINCE HE WAS BORN, BUT WITH MATURITY, COMES STATURE. CHEWBACCA IS A VERY PHOTOGENIC SIBERIAN TIMBERWOLF HYBRID. HE IS 75% SIBERIAN AND 25% TIMBER WOLF. HIS MOTHER WAS AN AKC SIBERIAN AND HIS DAD WAS A 50/50 SIBERIAN TIMBER WOLF. THE ONLY DRAW BACK TO SIBERIANS, THEY LIKE TO SING,,,,,,,,A LOT,,,,,,,,AND THEY CAN BE STUBBORN,,,,,,,TO THE POINT OF PUTTING A JACKASS TO SHAME. I’VE ALWAYS PREFFERED HIGH CONTENT WOLF HYBRIDS, BUT CHEWBACCA IS LEARNING JUST FINE AND I DO BELIEVE HE WILL TURN OUT TO BE JUST AS LOVING AS THE HYBRIDS THAT I HAD WERE. IN THIS PHOTO, CHEWY IS LAYING NEXT TO HIS SISTER, SASHA. SHE IS A LABRADOR/SHEPHERD MIX AND ONLY GOT TO BE 47 POUNDS. SHE WAS TALL ENOUGH FOR CHEWY TO WALK UNDER HER BELLY WHEN HE WAS 8 WEEKS OLD. NOW THAT CHEWY IS ALMOST 9 MONTHS OLD, SASHA CAN WALK UNDER HIS BELLY. THEY BOTH LOVE LAYING IN THE SUN AND GOING UP TO THE GUN CLUB ON SATURDAYS AND GRIZZLY ISLAND ON SUNDAYS, WHERE THEY BOTH GET TO PLAY WITH ANOTHER LAB, TICK.
She woke to unexpected snow, on the morning of the the 11th month since her Mother died. It wasn’t her first snow as an orphan; it wasn’t the snow that made her cry. It was knowing all day that last year at this time, her Mother had only one month left to live. Regrets and self-recriminations and grief still so raw that it left her breathless, followed her all day long. In the early afternoon she looked outside at the sun’s weak light. It pushed its way through the tree branches and then faded, like a weary Christmas shopper too worn out from fighting through crowds, to go home. She understood that light. It was her life now, weak and pale and searching for an end. This day, anyway. Maybe tomorrow would be different. / Photoimage edited in Corel Painter Essentials and Photoshop Elements 3 /
It was a lovely day in September! Just three months ago! And ever so different. It is good to be able to look back … and to look ahead by looking back. Green times shall come again. Taken near Maartensdijk on an old straight country-lane which is partly lined by wonderful old beech-trees and indeed is great for cycling. Sunrise this morning, 1st February 2009. Often the summer sunrises here are very plain, but this morning’s was a real treat. After letting the horse out for her morning graze, I raced back to the house for the camera. So much exercise so early in the morning! But I felt it was worth it. Straight from the camera.

The Grey Squirrel is a surprisingly large animal, its head and body being around 25cm in length with a tail almost as long again and weighs in at around half a kilogram. / Active during the day – and most especially around dawn and dusk – they forage for a wide range of food, including fruits and fungi in addition to their traditional diet of nuts and they will also take eggs or young birds. They breed twice a year – in early spring and then again in the summer – producing three or four young, though exceptionally up to nine may be born. These youngsters will themselves be able to breed at a year old.
