  • Taken at Bowman Lake in Glacier NP

  • Dueling mustangs in the Pryor Mountains of Montana digitally added to a Montana sunrise.

  • Old red barn and silo slowly tumbling down. Beartooth Mountains of Montana in the background.

  • Taken inside an historical turn-of-the-century home at Ft. Bridger, Montana. The way the light from the window illuminated the bottle on the table was just too much for me to resist :-) To me, it was reminiscent of the Dutch masters.

  • Beargrass, a member of the lily family, only blossoms once every 5-7 years. Hidden Lake is a short walk over the hill from Logan Pass in Glacier National Park in Montana.

  • I recently captured this brief scene while on a photo adventure that seemed as if it would end in failure. As much as anything, this one is about hanging in there when all seems lost…

  • USA, Montana, Glacier National Park, Saint Mary Lake. Shot this in July 2005 during a camping trip there. Just my little digital Kodak Easy Share camera that takes awesome images. Using Photoshop, I adjusted the levels and saturation a bit to see the bark of the tree better. One of my favorite pictures I’ve taken. Perfectly Framed View was featured on October 14, 2008 in the group / Montana: The Treasure State Have sold a laminated print of this image. Glacier National Park Series / /

  • Good size Mountain Sheep ram came to attention as the I apparently overstepped maybe 1 step too close and invaded his personal space. Close enough I snapped off a few and moved away so he could continue is winter meal. Shot taken in Yellowstone National Park just North of Tower Junction. Canon EOS-1D Mark II, Canon 70-200 f2.8L @200mm, 1/800, f5.6, ISO 200, Processed in Lightroom 2.2.

  • Sweet Dreams by Dave Hampton – Big Mountain, Montana / . / I decided to hile up to the top of Big Mountain yesterday 5/31/09 and was rewarded with this sunset. It was so amazing to see how red the sun got behind that thin veil of clouds. I also fell in love with the trees in the foreground. / . / / / / 10% of sales go to the Sierra Club / Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. / All images are the copyright of the artist – © Dave Hampton. • Tranquility by Dave Hampton – Olney, Montana / Best Viewed Large. / I happened upon this place one night while coming back from upper whitefish lake. The moment I saw it I knew I had to come back. I spent about four nights and a couple of early mornings photographing the area. This was one of my favorites. It was taken around 5:30 in the morning. When I got out of my tent I was so pleased to see the mist rising of the lake and the beginnings of a great sunrise. The time that I spent around this small lake was magical. The amount of wildlife was amazing. Three or four times large flocks of Canadian geese honked over head as small birds skimmed the surface of the water. This was truly a tranquil place. I also love the old beaver house of to the right. Time and time again I found myself coming back to it. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I did!!! / / / / 10% of sales go to the Sierra Club / Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. / All images are the copyright of the artist – © Dave Hampton. • After a summer evening storm, a double rainbow was forming above my house. I ran outside and couldn’t get the whole thing in one picture. The sky was changing so fast and the left side was going darker while the rainbow just glowed. We’ve had several rainbows appear in the same place about suppertime, but the mountains never looked as good as in this one. I run outside with my camera, get wet and my supper gets cold.

  • Glacier National Park, USA. It was one of those mornings when you could have heard a pin drop the air was so still. I heard a slight splash, and next thing a Beaver swam across the Lake right in front of me ! Absolutely the icing on the cake for me, though I know plenty who view the critter as a real nuisance ! Since I had the wide lens on the camera , I didn’t get a shot of it, but, what the heck , the light was playing my game on this day ! We also spotted a Black bear on the slopes of the mountain across the lake to my right. A day to cherish. Shot on a CANON EOS 40D, with polarising filter attached, and mounted on a tripod,. f22, 1/6sec, underexposed by one stop, iso 100, RAW file, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW, further adjustments in PS CS3, Levels, Curves, and finished with LAB colour. • Nevada City is an amazing place, but you have to be there early to get the place to yourself ! We got lucky, it was ‘off’ season and consequently very quiet , combined with a beautiful morning. / There were so many things to photograph, you could spend a whole lot of time there, but we were headed for Yellowstone, so time was limited sadly. Along with Bodie, California, this is a place I would happily return to time and time again …....... if only !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polarising filter attached, and mounted on a tripod. Canon 18-55mm kit lens / f22, 1/10 sec, underexposed by half a stop, iso 100. Cloudy WB. / I processed a single RAW file in Photomatix, HDR. Then processed in Adobe Camera RAW, then Ortoned it in PS CS3, adjusting Curves/levels, selective colour, etc., plus a bit of dodging and burning. / FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/your-magic-places / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/dslr-users-only-3-a-day / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/rebel-group / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/happy-haven / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/unlimited-quality

  • Saint Mary’s Lake is in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. I believe I was rather lucky to get such a calm day as I witnessed here, since I was told that for quite some weeks they had been experiencing unusually bad weather for the time of year ! Glacier is an amazing place, with its primeval mountain shapes, and abundant wildlife, lakes and waterfalls, and many good trails. I was hearing the Elk bugling across the lake as I shot. I would recommend this magic place to anyone ! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, polarising filter, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto WB, Raw file, processed in Adobe CS3, selective levels/curves and selective colour adjustments. • What summer means to me is escaping civilization, after being cooped up and snowed in for months, and camping out as long as possible (usually until more snow forces us back indoors). If I wasn’t able to spend some of my summer in the woods, I think I’d go crazy. I need the complete quiet of nature to recharge my batteries and make me more pleasant to be around. This was taken in the Great Bear Wilderness in Northwestern Montana. 8-7-09, featured in the UNITED STATES Group. / 9-18-09, featured in the UNITED STATES Group. / 9-21-09, featured in the TOP SHELF WILDLIFE AND NATURE ART Group.

  • BEST viewed large to see the details ! / I discovered this scene in beautiful Montana, USA, an old cart left in a field, with a couple of fine horses hanging around. I knew it would be a shot I would ‘do something later’ with in Photoshop, since on its own, photographed in the middle of the day in too strong sunshine, it wasn’t very exciting light ! The scene made me think of those pioneers that travelled across America, in the hope of better things. I shot on my CANON EOS 40D, with polariser attached to my Tamron 28-300 lens, set at 150mm, iso 200, auto wb, f6.7, 1/350sec, (wanted to blur an uninteresting background) underexposed by half a stop, RAW file processed as a pseudo HDR in Photomatix, then edited in Adobe CS3, levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour for saturation, added a dark vignette, then a little Orton, still wasn’t happy (!!) so I further added a couple of texture layers, which I adjusted with layer masks/opacities/blends etc. / I had a great deal of fun processing it !! The texture is my own, one I took in Namibia, in Kolmanskop mining ghost town ! FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/rebel-group /

  • Bald eagle photographed in Yellewstone County, Montana, USA. I think this eagle may be seeing it’s reflection in my lens, he sure was focused on some thing in my direction.
