  • Warm and sunny evening in a national park with my wife-to-be on May 1, 2005. Hiking in the forest and planning to stay overnight in a tent, while everybody else in whole Finland is drunk celebrating May 1st in the city or at home. I make fire and we sit down to have a bottle of champaign and make a toast… well, the story ends here, but before my glass was empty, I took a photo of fire (embers) through a glass which had few drops of champaign on the inside surface of the glass. This small crop of a photo (3×4cm), in all colors of “firechampaign”, is cloned ca. 150 times. Then every piece is rotated, moved and blended with each other. Original size is 60×90cm and printed on canvas.

  • Gediminas, the founder of Vilnius, the Capital of Lithuania. He was a cosmopolitan who opened the gates of the city to everybody, regardless of nationality, race or religion. In the 14th century, Vilnius was one of the most developed cities in Europe. It had one of the first universities in Europe. Story tells that Gediminas decided to establish the city after seeing in his dream a wolf howling at the top of a hill. I have not read any explanation for this story, but my guess is that Gediminas interpreted his dream as a sign to call all kinds of people to develop a better city. In the same way as a wolf howls to gather his pack.

  • Over 700 hundred years old majestic building in Turku, Finland. the castle was used to defend the city against the enemy. It was built on an island, but there is no island anymore. The surroundings have dried up. Only a small river flows within a stone’s throw.

  • This was born out of a yearning for rain- I see these huge and heartless goddesses as a type of aurora borealis in the sky, totally unconcerned with our rainless plight. They fling great armfuls of water all around, uncaring where or if they land. Go to Deb’s website for more info on workshops, giclee prints, sculpture and news on this North Queensland Australian Artist.

  • I love the changing colours of the ocean, it’s as if it has a life of its own at times with different moods each day.

  • 3d digital art render of a Serengeti Monsoon rain storm about to over take a group of elephants. Made with Bryce 3d

  • Monsoon just minutes after passing by and heading up into Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, Arizona! This storm was producing marble size hail with strong wind and rain. It was very dark and I thought the storm would not let up until after sundown. I was surprised by how fast the storm passed & just as the sun was setting. I did have my camera out trying to capture lightning but visibility was horrible so I had already put the camera/tripod away. I was totally taken off guard by this beautiful sight from my balcony and was unable to set the camera back up in time to capture the rainbows at their brightest! However, I’m very pleased with this shot…it is my personal favorite-to-date! It is so ironic that all the hiking and driving I do to different locations, I captured this one on the balcony of my apartment. Pentax K20D / Pentax DA 18-250mm lens / FL 21.9 / 1/45 sec / F3.5 / Raw-to-Jpeg (unedited)

  • Monsoon over uptown Sedona, which is not visible. Wilson Mt. in the background. Image is straight from camera with no processing Pentax K20D / Pentax DA 18-250mm / FL 20.6 / 1/45 Sec / F3.5 / Raw-to-Jpeg (unedited)

  • View large if possible. This was taken at Lakkidi, India which boasts of the second highest degree of rainfall in the World. ... so it’s pretty much always rain and gloom for them. In colour – this place has the most amazing shades of green I’ve ever seen – almost unbelievable!!

  • Megh – The clouds of monsoon has been a subject of poetry in India. Indian music has many ragas ( specific set of basic nodes in music which can be used as a basis of compositions ) on Megh. This photograph was taken in my city recently. The second tree right side of the image besides road is my favorite spot for earlier series – A day on the planet Earth HDR generated image from single RAW file x3 in Dynamic PhotoHDR and CS3 Equipment Canon EOS 400D and Canon EF S 10 – 22 mm lens with CPL and ND4 filter.
