Monument Valley Mitten
Standing here watching these huge waves crashing in through these giant cliffs was an amazing experience, the power and relentless pounding was ferocious but also incredibly hypnotic, I almost felt like I was being pulled in despite the fact that we were safely away from the real action. Taken today (20th January 08) whilst on a cruise around the Tasman Peninsula on the way to Tasman Island. If you want to see the REAL Tasmania I can’t recommend enough experiencing this part of the coastline. Whilst I took this image I was being buffeted by 50knot winds. All part of the experience!
The Monoliths in Carnac, France This photo was chosen for the front page of RedBubble’s featured page. Thanks for viewing!
The classic Monument Valley photograph featuring the East and West Mittens and I believe Merrick Butte. This started as a color HDR image from six separate frames. Three exposures of each half were converted to HDR images and the two resulting HDR images were stitched together into a wider panoramic view for maximum detail. That was then converted to B&W for the most impact. Photo taken in Monument Valley, Utah (Navajo Territory) This image has been featured in the American Southwest group and HDR Photography group. It also recently won 1st place in a photo contest at H&H Color Lab.
Same scene, taken 5 min after the one below, according to EXF info. Conditions changed constantly, and this quickly, all day. Image copyright © Marion Cullen. All rights reserved. Considered & Constructive critique invited and welcome.

This is quite an old picture, but it is a personal favourite of mine. I took it a couple of years ago with a little digital compact and despite many attempts to recreate this scene using the SLR I still haven’t got a shot as good as this. :) / Captured just up the lane from my house near Selby
Sleepless @ 3a.m., full moon above and a slow shutter, aperture open and a series of amazing cloud formations were captured

Trying out different filters in CS3. This is in the render filter and the three light filters, but only two are used
Again in CS3 and the Omni light filter, this one was just using the blue filter. / Film photo taken in 2005 of the Ring of Brodgar on the Orkney Isles, just off the coast of Scotland.
One of the photos already uploaded but treated this time with the Orton effect. The Ring of Brodgar, a wonderful set of monolithic stones are found on the Orkney Isles, reached by ferry from the coast of Scoltand. Film photo treated with Orton Featured in Shetland and Orkneys Group

One of the most beautiful (and famous) prehistoric sights in this wonderful planet of ours, Stonehenge sits in the English county of Wiltshire, a resounding final stamp on the beauty that makes up the English countryside in the Southwest region of the country. Believed to have been erected around 2500 BC, with an initial earth bank and ditch dated back to 3100 BC, recent discoveries have uncovered that Stonehenge served as an ancient burial ground. Though there has been theory after thoery in regards to the actual construction methods used to create Stonehenge, no “final verdict” on the question has ever been reached by archaeologists or historians. And since the culture that produced this legendary stone circle had no written language, we can only continue to wonder as to the true meaning of this absolutely magical place. I kind of like it that way. This shot was taken in late September in 2007. The time of day was around 9:15 a.m., which provided some quality light conditions and minimal crowds. We stayed for about 90 minutes, and by the time we left… the masses had already taken over. If you want to experience Stonehenge with minimal crowds, go early in the morning. Go as early as you can. And for crying out loud, don’t forget your camera.
/ Like ships in a convoy these monolithic rock formations cruise the desert of southern Utah. (HDR image)
Oil on Linen / Detail, Portrait of Frederick L. Gregory / Rick Gregory is one of the few granite sculptors in America – I’m not sure more than five artists work in this very tough, formidable rock. California has a good stock of it, especially around Fresno and Yosemite. I thought Rick looked a bit Apollo-ish; I added a fist full of blueprints. We had some very artsy adventures, one at the height of a blinding record-setting rain and wind a few years back on the Central Coast. We drove to Big Sur dodging collapsing cliffs and boulders on Highway One, to tie down twenty-five and thirty foot blocks of Rick’s granite sculpture against the tempest. The best I can say about that thrilling day was that nobody died. Years ago, this expert sailor was on the winning America’s Cup team before hitting dry land in Brazil where he stayed to study rock building with a Japanese master, marry Miss Brazil, and start a family. He’s gone back and forth ever since between Brazil and California, making extraordinary monolithic granite sculptures, many interplaying with water. His work is shown at the Hawthorne Gallery in Big Sur, and installed all over the world in public and private collections.
Besides the church the ancient Monolith stands over 25 foot in height, and was once possibly taller. It will have predated the church, possibly late Neolithic or Bronze age and would have been for some religious or ritual purpose.. The monolith stands in the church grounds at an East Yorkshire village called Rudston. / I timed my visit wrongly, I had to shoot towards the light and rely on hdr to bring out the details. This photo belongs to MY OLD STANDING STONES SET / RELIGIOUS BUILDINGS
