  • One of my first shots taken a DSLR, shot two years ago in Edinburgh, Scotland, during the G8 Summit – which explains the large amount of “Save The World!”-pins on his jacket! Some months later, I got a note from a fellow photographer on deviantART.com, linking me to a picture he shot himself – of the very same man. It’s a small world, isn’t it?

  • Shot at the trainstation in Aarhus, Denmark in January – a train was leaving the station, and as I walked up along the carts, I noticed this guy sitting there. I moved a couple of carts ahead, put the viewfinder to my eye, waited for him to get in the picture – and snap.

  • Robert Johnson was truly the grandfather of blues. Inspiring such musicians as Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones. His music has deeply affected my love for blues and music in general. My portrait of Robert is a small tribute to the amazing body of work he produced. Through every layer of pencil and every stroke of my hand, I tried to capture the essence of Mr. Johnson onto paper. I depicted every detail in my portrait, from the old curtain hung behind him to the design on the blanket he sits on. Each pinstripe was painstakingly reproduced as well as the weathering on his guitar. My desired end result is that you will feel like you are looking at an aged photo of Robert Johnson. I believe when you truly study this piece you will hear his music and see the richness of his character portrayed in through my pencils. • I took this photo as part of my final project at art school in 2008. Dave was part of a collection of tattooed bodies at the Newport Tattoo Convention 2008, which is where I photographed him. I shot about eighteen people that morning and made a book illustrating their body art and stories behind them. Dave, who is a tattoo artist, had designed the image on his back, and had it tattooed on at the convention by a fellow tattoo artist.

  • My lovely sister and a 15-second exposure. It was pitch black in the park and neither of us could see anything; focus as ever was a complete guess and this took a number of attempts to complete. An experiment with a torch that definitely paid off! :) Featured on the RB homepage Dec 7th 08, and again on Apr 7th 09! / Winner of the Experiemental group ‘Light Painting’ challenge Dec 08.

  • This is a portrait of my husky cross Marushka (‘Little Mary’ in Czech…) in her element. She’s never happier than when its snowing like a mad thing, and i can’t blame her- she was built for winter! She’s a lot of fun; a real character, and very photogenic. She certainly shows us the lighter side of winter and the cold Canadian holiday season!

  • Model – Danica/Nytevision I have no idea who the artist is who did the mural she is standing in front of. All I know is that it’s in Adelaide’s CBD and it’s awesome… and orange. / If you know, tell me. They deserve credit. / This is not a manip. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas

  • Model – Halohid Sunken bathtubs are awesome. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas

  • This is one of my favourite shots taken on black and white film and taken in St Mark’s Square in Venice, Italy. I have scanned the print. I like the timelessness of this shot, I think. She was surrounded by the pigeons at first and she didn’t mind. But later, one flew on her head and she minded a lot. I recently made a sale on redbubble with this shot. A matted print in Off White to Lucy, my sister-in-law, in the UK. Many thanks so much for purchasing this. This shot was featured in the Urban Art Group and the I love Italy Group.

  • Grade B pencil on smooth catridge paper This Drawing was inspired by the following song:- The Lady Lies / by Tony Banks The man steps out in the moonlight / At the sound of a scream from below. / He thinks he is a warrior / So he picks op his sword and goes. From the mouth of the monster / He rescues the maiden fair. / But we know she’s a demon / Come to lure him to the demon’s lair. Through restless foliage and tall trees he leads / To a house in a clearing, a place in her fear she calls home. ‘Come with me, I need you, / I fear the dark and I live all alone. / I’ll give you wine and food too / And something special after if you like.’ And though his body bids him / To enter in with her, / There was something in her manner / That his mind could not ignore. For who knows what magic takes place in his world? / So he just thanks her kindly preparing to go on his way. ‘Come with me, I need you, / I fear the dark and I live all alone. / I’ll give you wine and food too / And something special after if you like. Come to my garden, / Taste the fruits and the spices of love. / You can’t resist me, / I’m the kind that your dreams tell you of.’ ‘So glad you could make it / We had everything arranged. / So glad you saw fit to pay a call.’ Some men never listen, / Others never learn, / But why this man did as he did / Only he will ever know. He knew he was walking / Into a wailing trap, / Neatly set up for him / With a bait so richly wrapped. So he went inside there to take on what he found / But he never escaped them, for who can escape what he desires? ‘Come with me, I need you, / I fear the dark and I live all alone. / I’ll give you wine and food too / And something special after if you like.’
