Moored in Monte Carlo Harbour, in the South of France, the Lady Moura is a private superyacht. In 2006, it was pronounced the 11th largest private yacht in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Caravan at one of the street cafes in Monaco Harbour, South of France. / This is my current favourite because it was taken on my travels; spontaneous and hand held. I also had the good fortune that photomatix liked it, even though there was only a single image to work with.
Taken from the square in front of the Royal Palace of Monaco. A sovereign and independent state, the Principality of Monaco has borders on its landward side with several communes of the French Department of the Alpes-Maritimes; from west to east these are Cap d’Ail, la Turbie, Beausoleil and Roquebrune Cap Martin. Seawards, Monaco faces the Mediterranean Sea. Its surface area is 485 acres, of which nearly 100 were recovered from the sea during the course of the last twenty years. Monaco lies on a narrow coastal strip, which sometimes rises vertically upwards with its highest point at 206 feet. Its width varies between .65 miles and a mere 382 yards. Its coastline is 2.5 miles long. The Principality has only one commune, Monaco, whose limits are the same as those of the state. Grace Kelly. 27.5 Hours / HB, 2B, 3B, 5B. Kneadable eraser / 8.5” x 12.5” The reference used was a promotional shot for the 1956 film “High Society”, which was basically her last film, and one of my favorites of all time. The large rock on her finger in this photo and in the film, is the real engagement ring from Prince Ranier of Monaco.

/ . / This photo was taken during my European vacation in 1998. I tried to capture the Monte Carlo Harbour, including sections of the F1 race track. The race has been a regular fixture of the F1 World Championship since 1955, but in that time the circuit has changed remarkably little. / I walked around the race track with a mate, and could not believe how tight the road is. The circuit leaves no margin for error, so overtaking is next to impossible. / The Monaco circuit includes the Lowes hairpin, the slowest corner in Formula One, and followed by the tunnel, one of the few flat-out sections of the track. The F1 teams will be racing here from 22 to 24 May. / . / This photograph was scanned from a colour negative (big thank you to my brother for letting use his scanner). The tide was going out and I managed to capture the dying sunset in one of the puddles left behind by the retreating sea. / / This is the first time I’ve shot in RAW, and I am not too hot on the old post processing so it has taken a whole lot of trial and error to get this looking somewhere near the way it did when I shot it last night! I don’t have photoshop so all done in Canon DPP. Go on, give it to me straight, I can take it!.....
