She’s dearest to my heart, closest to my soul… / And she has the sweetest smile that I will ever know. / Heart bearing tenderness in her love so very deep… / No matter what happens in this life…My Moma loves me. / I can’t truly say what is the depth of her love… / But I can say that it has always been more than enough. / In the good or bad, through the thick or thin… / She’s always been that someone on whom I could depend. / In my misbehaving she could scold me without saying one word… / In my ignorance she taught me in wisom she has learned. / Worked hard all her life to give me all I would need… / And still had time to brush my hair as I sit there at her knees. / She is the strongest woman I think I have ever known… / In her ways of Godly living the seeds of my life were sown. / I love you Moma, my friend, my confidant, my everything… / There’s not another living soul that is more precious to me. a portion of an interview with the director of MOMA on Charlie Rose (PBS), late last night. They got into a discussion about “privacey”, and the different generational needs concerning this hot-button issue. Facebook rocks (!) until that first job interview when a picture of you puking your guts out at a frat party lands on your interviewers desk, lol! I found it interesting… the concept of people being packed like sardines on metro trains yet having a deep sense of lonliness and isolation in the midst of this thronging mass of humanity. Each, in their own little world, with iPods plugged into their ears, or laptops flipped open, books or magazines held up like shields of armor… Then…they get home and are essentially alone in their physical space (or spouse and kids tucked away, sleeping blissfully- whatever the situation) and turn to their social networks and are flooded with a sense of community, well-being, and targeted interation that fits their inclinations of companionship and community. Alone, essentially, but fulfilled, socially. I thought that was amazing! And true. Especially where I’m concerned. In the short, short time I’ve been involved with RB I believe I’ve grown and expanded as a person. I find myself not quite so “alone” or “solitary” in this world. I’ve been on other social networks, but this is different for me. Why? I can’t answer. What’s the elusive “it” factor that makes this “work” so well? I’ve always had, from a very young age, a pervasive sense of lonliness and tendancey to isolate. Although I do tremendously enjoy the company of others, and take full advantage of those times, looking over my life, I’ve found my deepest relationships have begun and lasted through coorespondance rather than constant “face to face” contact. I wonder if familiarity really does breed contempt? But I digress (what does that mean anyway? I just thought it sound appropriate there, LOL!). Anyway… I’m interested in what you all think about this. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! Mechelle
