Today I received my delivery of Calendars.. a good thing you might think?? However, I had to pay, at the door, an additional amount of £24.76 G.B.P… this is on an order that originally only cost me £27.00 GBP.!!!! This was a charge made by the good old British Government covering Import VAT and charges. So my fellow Bubblers beware the Great British rip-off!.. My calendars have each cost me almost double the original price.. I am so disappointed.. Bahhhh Humbug!

Hi everyone, I feel the need to moan (who doesn’t, lol)...I’m getting frustrated over the lack of sales from this site. Is this something that you’ve encountered: and how did you get over it? Please don’t think of me as arrogant but I don’t believe for a second that i’m the world’s greatest photographer but I do think that some of my pics would make lovely greeting cards or canvas’. It just seems that views of my portfolio dont equal sales…what do I have to do to get one? Grrrrrr…... Maybe I’m too focused on getting that a sale – kind of like the bloke in the pub/club who is desperate to pull someone that others can sense it and back off? Am i that guy? lol. I suppose selling a card/print isn’t the be all and end all but I can imagine the sens of excitement when you log on a see that you’ve sold a print…...wonderful! Anywho’s just a quick rant. I hope someone has got some handy hints or advice for me… Be lucky, Ciaran

  • Black Snake Moan
    by Lee Wilde

    US$4.99–US$114.00

ORIGINAL AVAILABLE / view my current eBay listings I’ve been reading a little about wereism, shape-shifters, etc. lately. I’m not someone who believes everything they read, but I do find it fascinating… particularly trying to visualise how a person transforming into an animal might look. In Shamanism, snakes represent the cycle of transformation through birth, death and rebirth, due to their ability to shed their skin. Snake people are often very wise and have the power to renew themselves. currently listening to: Black Snake Moan – Samuel L. Jackson medium: charcoal and acrylic on 185gsm watercolour paper size: 29.7cm x 42cm (A3)

Well the reason I didn’t update my little journal here was because I have been busy writing. Shock, horror! I have also been busy taking and uploading photos as well, so time has been scarce to say the least! I have finally confronted my inner demons about writing in my native Geordie dialect, and disregarded every piece of advice I have been given; and submitted “BRILLIANT” for inclusion in the War Child benefit book / “Your Not The Only one”:http://peacharse.blogspot.com/2008/02/youre-not-only-one_10.html / that said I did offer to do an English translation! In the course of my research on it’s readability I did have a somewhat befuddled, confused, and amusing debate with some kind people at “http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94526&page=2”:http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94526&page=2 scroll down towards the bottom of the thread! Writers Cramp 2 was included in the first issue of “The Writers Market Group Blogazine”:http://wmgmag.wordpress.com/2008/03/02/issue-no1/ Cheers folks, however being that busy I only got round to reading issue 1 today when issue 2 came out! I have been continuing to enter competitions, with the same degree of success (i.e. none!); other than the above mentioned “BRILLIANT” I entered “Picture This” to http://www.5photostory.com/comp08.htm:http://www.5photostory.com/comp08.htm and “The Egg”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/mickymc/writing/843592-the-egg to “Flash Fiction’s March Challenge”:http://www.redbubble.com/flash-fiction/forums/415/topics/10666-march-2008-happily-ever-after. / I have posted a new short story “Colin”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/mickymc/writing/838247-colin written especially for the new “Twisted Tales”:http://www.redbubble.com/twisted-tales group, posted up my unsuccessful entry for the Whispers competition “Sub Text”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/mickymc/writing/824129-sub-text, and posted up “Mother’s Day”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/mickymc/writing/807940-mothers-day which is another uncomfortable bit of fact based fiction in verse form. / I set up a “blog”:http://gibboncore.blogspot.com/ which I am slowly getting used to using, and have set up a group dedicated to highlighting the influence that Punk and Hardcore (“Hardcore Punk”:http://www.redbubble.com/hardcore-punk) have had on art and literature, not much to see at the moment, but the more people who get involved the better. I’ll be publicising this in more detail separately as I know this is going on a bit now! Finally if you have the time: check out “THE SAD REALITY”: http://www.redbubble.com/people/porask/writing/837393-the-sad-reality it’s a great piece of strong fact based writing and also “My Journey to Bangladesh…1”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/pagly2/journal/809852-my-journey-to-bangladesh-1 and “My Journey to Bangladesh…2”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/pagly2/journal/810277-my-journey-to-bangladesh-2 which show us that there are some uniquely special people out there on Red Bubble. And last but not least another heart warming tale about kind hearted Red Bubble folk… “Richard Veal”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/richardv lost his macro lens, and some kinds person out there bought and posted a new Sigma macro lens to his local pub! Cheers Micky

Hello folks, I have been off line for the last week or so having finally given in to the series of colds I have been suffering. / I think I am back up to date, but if have posted a comment on my work, or have sent me a bubble mail, and I have missed it: sorry! Wading trough my emails I was over the moon to find that my short story “Colin”: http://www.redbubble.com/people/mickymc/writing/838247-colin has been included in issue 4 of the “WMG Blogazine”:http://wmgmag.wordpress.com/ thanks for your support! Since my last journal post, I have entered a few competitions, but my mind has gone blank! And the only one I can remember is sending off my short story George The Pig to the Academy of Children’s writers. Cheers Micky

Hello folks / Time for another of my infrequent journal entries. / As time goes on they are getting less frequent; however they are much longer! / Bit of a strange last couple of weeks for me: I managed to get a bit of writing done; despite various other things going on. Also managed to get a couple of gigs under the belt of the newly expanded 5 piece line up of Jinn / / Last Monday morning I found out that I had won the Short Stories – Spherical Scriptings / writing competition Zodiac13 with “Scorpio”. Obviously I was over the moon about it! / I then had the week from hell at work, including rumours of P45’s (redundancy/unemployment). All of this duffness was offset by becoming a co-host of Twisted Tales , and getting to judge the competition. / There were some great entries and you can read the top 3: / Lovers by Paul Rees-Jones Lawn Clean Up by rrohn Stolen by sastro Failing that you can read all of them by clicking “here!”:http://www.redbubble.com/search/ttc1 Other good things this week; were being a featured member, and having my writing featured on the home page for Short Stories – Spherical Scriptings and getting two of my story’s (The Egg (my unsuccessful entry for a Flash Fiction comp) and Scorpio) featured on Red Bubble’s Featured Writing page! Saturday night I headed of to Bradford to play at the 1 in 12 Club with Grinding Halt from Holland; great gig: despite the fact that Grinding Halt missed their ferry and turned up as we were heading back to Newcastle! Finally this two week period was capped off by finding out that the Jinn LP was given a killer review in Short, Fast + Loud Before I go, I’d like to say that I keep finding some great writing on Red Bubble, can I humbly suggest that you check out: jcmontgomery’s journal entry A New Perspective (An Essay) “barebelly’s ANZAC They’re both strong personal pieces, and make you stop and think. / Cheers / Micky

Another week of posting photos and not doing enough writing! I have read some thought provoking things both here and elsewhere, which are great examples of fact based fiction dealing with uncomfortable subject matter. I particularly thought that these two pieces were great examples of this genre. / http://clarityofnight.blogspot.com/2008/02/entry-26.html http://www.redbubble.com/people/pagly2/writing/753359-she-walked-away After the roaring success, slight note of sarcasm here, of my own bit of fact based fiction http://www.redbubble.com/people/mickymc/writing/771344-you-re-never-far-from-the-action-when-you-live-in-a-bungalow / I am left wondering is the lack of response because people think that is c*@p, because they feel uncomfortable with the subject matter, or because they think that men have no ‘right’ to work with this subject matter? I am in the middle of writing a short story called “Brilliant” which I am going to try and submit to the War Child writers blog that DBA Lehane told everyone about / http://www.redbubble.com/people/lehane/journal/770912-youre-not-the-only-one / just as soon as I work out how to actually blog! By the way they have extended the deadline. Still can’t make my mind up about the Chapter One competition… “http://www.redbubble.com/writers-market/forums/442/topics/9986-novel-competition” I know it seems like a scam… argh! And finally, I now have Bubble approval for a new group to highlight the impact that Punk and Hardcore on art and literature… more details soon Over and out, bottles of milk to make…

Sometime I wish I wasn’t so possitive and full of hope. Sometimes I wish I could wallow in total misery and god knows in thepast I have, but where did that get me? / Nowhere; I lost friends and almost myself to it. Since I have always looked on the ‘bright’ side and however difficult asked for help – of any kind – to get me out of a fix. Yet how can I ask for a ‘new life’ please coz I feel I am too far down the wrong path to make the ‘right’ turn. I’m in a dull job that I don’t belive in; the people are nice and the job is secure but that’s all there is to say about it. I don’t want the things I love to be ‘just a hobby’. I want to live off my writing even my painting but I started too late and the kvetch of ‘am I good enough?’ Kicks in. I want so much yet it all seems so out of reach. 1) I want recognition / 2) I want to earn a living writing/painting / 3) I don’t want to be on my own anymore. / 4) I want a child. But my history is not promising with my procrationation and fear of EVERYTHING appears to have won. I still hope though, that some gorgeous man with connections finds me, then whisks me off my feet empregnates me and loves me for the rest of our lives and at the same time I ‘m hailed as the genius no one ever suspected!!! Yeh right!

Well, yes I did say I would not mention the ‘weather’ in a previous posting – but hey, with constant downpours, NE winds and cool autumn-like days, one has to say ‘something’!! As I mention in my bubblesite – desertman – these are increasing cyclical changes – expect more, so I should not moan! / In fact if anyone out there is reading this you can go to my preparedness site at www.ambilacuk.com/safesurvival and get to know how to prepare for such events! All being well – in a few weeks I will be back in the Egyptian deserts and dropping into Cairo for a week or so – hopefully I will be bringing back some sunshine and unusual desert shots to brighten our days! / Keep safe keep dry – be prepared! / H
