  • June 2007 I’m on a roll with mixed mediums! This one is a mix of calico, hessian, shellac, paints, string… I have tried to capture the essence and textures of Africa… It smells like Africa funny enough, could be attributed to the sage burning at the time of creation. Look out for the symbols… Table Mountain, Tribal Patterns, The bushveld, animals and animal totems. x Carmen

  • / “Solitude” is part of the Chinese Brush Painting Series.. Watercolour and Inks on Rice Paper… I originally painted this on white paper, but I thought it was too bland so I masked the image and painted the paper in an ombre effect with watercolour…it wrinkles a lot as it dries, and I like the effect, so I have not mounted the painting, but left it as you see it. How happy he, who free from care / The rage of courts, and noise of towns; / Contented breathes his native air, / In his own grounds. / Whose herds with milk, whose fields with bread, / Whose flocks supply him with attire, / Whose trees in summer yield him shade, / In winter fire. / Blest! who can unconcern’dly find / Hours, days, and years slide swift away, / In health of body, peace of mind, / Quiet by day, / Sound sleep by night; study and ease / Together mix’d; sweet recreation, / And innocence, which most does please, / With meditation. / Thus let me live, unheard, unknown; / Thus unlamented let me die; / Steal from the world, and not a stone / Tell where I lie. Alexander Pope / /

  • One of my favorite birds that I’ve been fortunate to see in the wild.

  • For some years I lived on the 19th floor of a council estate tower block, and as expected got to meet and know quite well some of the others living there…. / The diversity of characters there, and (how they lived) was something I’d always wanted to portray in a more iconic way than I might usually (although painting at this size, I had to wait until I was living in a bigger place first). Oil on canvas (with sand, papier-mache, brick powder, earth & cardboard) 48 inches X 48 inches This painting is for sale – please contact the artist

  • “Double, double toil and trouble; / Fire burn, and caldron bubble. / Fillet of a fenny snake, / In the caldron boil and bake; / Eye of newt, and toe of frog, / Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, / Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, / Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,— / For a charm of powerful trouble, / Like a hell-broth boil and bubble / Double, double toil and trouble; / Fire burn, and caldron bubble” —MacBeth, William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

  • This a mixed media on board. I first did collaging, ( I used one of my woodcut prints to make her dress) then acrylics, and finished up with oil painting. The model is Bellmusker . / Bell is a writer on redbubble and took a self portrait photograph of herself so that I could paint her sleeping in a landscape. I hope she likes it as I did not plan this too much, just kept painting until It was done. This is the end result. BillyLee, Belinda Nye, Billy

A psychedelic experience is characterized by the perception of aspects of one’s mind previously unknown, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ostensibly ordinary fetters. Psychedelic states are an array of experiences elicited by sensory deprivation as well as by psychedelic substances. I have to give credit to my DD for drawing the mouth for this piece. (She is 10 years old) I was having issues with it, she came into my studio, and asked if she could do it for me. God bless her sweet little heart. I left it just as it was! :) Abstract painting created using several photographic layers, added textures, Photoshop, Painter X and a Wacom tablet. • See the Clown with the sensitive tear, / So sad but yet the crowds cheer, / All dressed in black and white / Such an unusual sight, / Painted smile painted Eyes / But still this clown cries / With her dog by her side / Wants to leave and as tried / But feels tied the place she calls home.

  • Look into the eyes of this clown. Do you see even a little part of your own soul? If the answer is YES, Betty has achieved her goal. There are several ways to express happiness, pain or other emotions in art. An artist I know said “Every artist paints or draws at least one clown in their career”. Why do you as the viewer suppose this is true? Personally, I think it is. Why? – because it is a way to express the pain or joy we all feel in any given time in our lives. / As many of the portraits of clowns in times past, an illustration of the personal frustration with the circumstances we all face in our lives reflects in this work. The Orignal painting was sold to an Art Collector from NY. Original: / Mixed Media, Watercolor and Soft Pastel on Paper, 16/20in This painting was FEATURED in ” Juggalo &/or Clown Art” Group on Dec. 07. 2009. This painting was FEATURED in “♫.•°°African Art At heART°°•.♫” Group on Dec. 13. 2009

  • Digital fine art in oil painting style by Mariska / December/2009 This is a collaborate work with the very talented writer Anna-Marie Docherty aka Anaisnais. / I’ve read her beautiful poem and here is the result . Some new tomorrow / by Anaisnais In death we departed, / you knew your time had come. / Your body rose to meet last breath, / then sunk again, to hold / forever’s peace within your chest. Such frozen coldness set your bones, / grey/blue lips, syanosis undertones; / and what for me to do next, / but search your soul, / which lies not in your breast? Confused, perplexed, / I know you do not sleep; / but watch the world go by. / Not in the casket buried 6 foot deep, / yet in my heart and mind. A trace of sadness, / not understanding yet; / and nothing to lose. / So mournful these tears I cry, / unseen under the mist of time. Saying Goodbye the next life’s waiting, / I see the road back in different light. / Wavering unsafe over the horizon, / I conjure dream like wraiths; / sinister and heavy against the spirits. Where memories leap / you will not die, / for patiently you’ll wait; / and until then I know you’ll stand / like sentinal at gate. I know you keep a watch o’er us, / protect from harm / all those you loved. / Through long and lonely hours I sigh, / remembering long lost days gone by. You keep me warm / and comfort me in ways / Only you could ever know how / Until we meet again some day / some bright new tomorrow.
