This is again, from a drive through the back roads of the Dandenong ranges in Victoria. I was just driving around and stopping to photograph things that caught me eye (I wound up lost too). This is a plot of land behind a farmhouse near Seville.

Seville, Vic, Australia. I saw this grove of Chestnut trees on the side of the road and jumped a barbed wire fence to shoot it. It was such a surreal morning with the mist rolling through the trees. Took about a dozen shots here and stole 7 chestnuts which I had with my dinner that night. It was only after uploading this that I decided that I’m not entirely happy with it. I have about 10 different versions of it shot at different angles some of which I think are a little better.

Taken at Mammoth Hot Springs (Yellowstone Nat’l Park, WY) on a cold September morning. The sun was beginning to break through the fog, but the boardwalk still led through an eerie scene. Probably my favorite as I like the mystery. Canon Elan II / Velvia film.

This was taken in Morton National Park just north of Ulladulla on Pointer Gap Road. There is a great lookout at the end, just don’t go when the weather’s like this. /

In life as well as fishing it’s all about the journey! / As the sunrise burned through the fog early Sunday morning, on Clear Lake near Hunstville, Ontario, two fishermen enthusiastically set out for their favourite fishing spot… / This shot was as a result of an early morning walk in / August 2008 in the fog: part planning, part serendipity. One of the benefits of doing night shift in winter time is getting home sometime past 7am after a cold night at work and being greeted by this wonderful sight. / The scattered eucalyptus in farm paddocks appearing out of the mist. / I have had this image on my computer for quite some time and I liked it (sort of) but the frame of mind never quite took me to do anything with it til now. / It didnt quite do it for me, so I decided to b&w it today. So I did the b&w thing, then cropped the top of it and then thought… “hey I like that crop, I wonder what it looks like in colour?” / So I went back to the colour and gave it the same crop and here it is. Misty haunting morning this morning, sitting in a pine plantation at Mt Burr in the Limestone Coast area of South Australia. Last hints of fog lifting as the sun rose towards a clear blue sky. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with ND4 filter. Three shot HDR converted in Photomatix and cropped to size. Damn it was cold!!!!!!!!!!

Out early this morning to watch the sun rise through the fog in a pine plantation at Mt Burr – Limestone Coast South Australia. Certainly worth the cold to see the beauty as the sun tried to force its way into the forest. Canon 400D 18 – 55 with ND4 filter. Processed in Photoshop CS3.

I took a bucketload of shots like this in the space of about 15 minutes on my way to work one winter morning. I’d never seen fog in 25 years of living in Japan and there was no way I could miss work that morning. Fortunately I had to pass through a park and just kept taking shots until I could delay no longer. I arrived at school with about a minute to spare! There will be more of these when I’ve sorted out which are best suited for this site.

Taken in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA. Driving along the park road early one morning, there was a small dip in the road where the early morning mist had lingered. I frantically shot as much as I could, knowing it would rapidly vanish with the sun getting higher in the sky. It was so unbelievably beautiful, I felt like I was dreaming ! / A very magical five minutes that is forever etched in my memory. / The tree skeletons are relics of that huge fire in the Eighties. I shot on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted on tripod, polarising filter attached, iso 100, Auto WB, f22, 1/15 sec, RAW file processed in Adobe Camera Raw, then CS3, with selective levels and curves adjustments, also selective colour. Other than that, the shot kinda took itself !
