This was taken near Wandin East at the back of the Dandenong Ranges. I was driving around through the mist and got lost. As i was coming around a bend I looked out and saw this.
This is again, from a drive through the back roads of the Dandenong ranges in Victoria. I was just driving around and stopping to photograph things that caught me eye (I wound up lost too). This is a plot of land behind a farmhouse near Seville.
Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have…. Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print. Early morning shot
Shortly after the dream, the mountains breathed out a morning glow across the still surface of a murky glacial lake.

I was inspired this morning after reading and commenting on Julie Langford’s Post. It made me remember that sometimes the journey – the people you meet, the things you learn along the way – is more important than the destination. So despite the bitter frosty morning I rugged myself up (two thermals are better than one) and set out to greet nature and the day with Sami and my trusty tripod in tow. Turns out The Day had advance warning from Nature that I was coming (I think it was the blue wren who visits me that let the secret out)... and together they turned on an absolutely gorgeous – albeit bloody freezing – show. This is most likely the easiest image I have ever had in post production, the only enhancement it has had is a slight vignette added. For the mist gently rising off the water… the glorious colour… the frost on the reeds… the delicate reflections… the beautiful ray of illuminating light… I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Nature and The Day. In life as well as fishing it’s all about the journey! / As the sunrise burned through the fog early Sunday morning, on Clear Lake near Hunstville, Ontario, two fishermen enthusiastically set out for their favourite fishing spot… / This shot was as a result of an early morning walk in / August 2008 in the fog: part planning, part serendipity. I particularly like the fact that compared to a lot of fog shots it displays color, to I think, an advantage and shows the promise of a beautiful sunny summer day emerging… Nikon D40, Nikkor 18-55mm lens Top Ten Placement in the Nikon D40 Users, Masterpiece challenge, September 2009 / Featured in the Nikon D40 Users group, July 2009 / Top Ten in the Journey or Destination challenge for the First Things group, July 2009 / Featured in the Outsiders, March 2009 / Featured in Canada: The Great White North group September 2008 / Featured in the Nirvana group September 2008 / Avatar for Shots In The Fog group October 2008 / Featured in the ImageWriting group November 2008 / Featured in the 100% group. This is the result of ‘photographer’s block’ !!! The misty log bench has been processed and languishing in a file for a few months … last night I decided to marry it with a maid to see if I could add some interest. Model stock Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM
This dreamy glade in Pisgah National Forest, Western North Carolina, gave me the feeling of being in two worlds at once – the “normal” world we live in and also a world filled with faeries, gnomes and is that a troll hiding in the forest?? I added the Orton effect with PhotoShop to give it an even more dream-like quality and enhanced the colors. This was taken in the early morning hours just after the sun rose. One of the benefits of doing night shift in winter time is getting home sometime past 7am after a cold night at work and being greeted by this wonderful sight. / The scattered eucalyptus in farm paddocks appearing out of the mist. / I have had this image on my computer for quite some time and I liked it (sort of) but the frame of mind never quite took me to do anything with it til now. / It didnt quite do it for me, so I decided to b&w it today. So I did the b&w thing, then cropped the top of it and then thought… “hey I like that crop, I wonder what it looks like in colour?” / So I went back to the colour and gave it the same crop and here it is. Misty haunting morning this morning, sitting in a pine plantation at Mt Burr in the Limestone Coast area of South Australia. Last hints of fog lifting as the sun rose towards a clear blue sky. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with ND4 filter. Three shot HDR converted in Photomatix and cropped to size. Damn it was cold!!!!!!!!!!
Out early this morning to watch the sun rise through the fog in a pine plantation at Mt Burr – Limestone Coast South Australia. Certainly worth the cold to see the beauty as the sun tried to force its way into the forest. Canon 400D 18 – 55 with ND4 filter. Processed in Photoshop CS3.
The perfect place to sit and watch the sunrise and clearing mist over the beautiful tweed valley in the scottish borders… See also morning glow and mist in the valley I hesitated to post this one earlier but it does rather combine two of my favourite things…. cheers and comments most welcome.. cheers ;)) (ps tried a b&w but am really hooked on these soft tones…) Taken with an old nikon coolpix 4800 / f/2.7 / 1/46sec / ISO-50 / 6mm
Taken near Anakie on a misty morning.
I took a bucketload of shots like this in the space of about 15 minutes on my way to work one winter morning. I’d never seen fog in 25 years of living in Japan and there was no way I could miss work that morning. Fortunately I had to pass through a park and just kept taking shots until I could delay no longer. I arrived at school with about a minute to spare! There will be more of these when I’ve sorted out which are best suited for this site.
