they say walls have ears… / and I say, eyes too for I see tears / bleeding through her walls, / exuding shrills of wordlessness / uttered in either mischief or sadness, / yes, what she sees, she sees all, / can’t speak, but feels in pall… / she holds secrets within her barriers, / all hidden and stacked in tiers… / some forgotten…but many a reminder, / of affairs, episodes from that corner to here…..!!! this music inspired me and also try listening to this

Visited Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park where kangaroos are plenty. Samson came to mind while this young fellow was up to his mischief in the flower patch. Tis no wonder most leave plastic flowers in rememberance of loved ones….some I guess don’t know the michief these lovely creatures are capable of. Could say the same of cats and dogs etc…. even some humans too….lol In remberance of Samson, may he rest well. He touched my heart, without even seeing him in person

This is 6 in a series of 12 from a collection of works I’m callin ” Weekend at Grandma’s ” The basic theme being some mischievous boys doing things from sneaking around to playing make believe , some being cute , some a lil dark ( we all know how lil boys can be ) . I’ll also add that I tried my best to keep the original designin its most basic pencil form , only adding in some effects and back grounds… I hope it comes off the way I hope it will . Lights are out and no one’s home …cept Lil Scottie and his trusty candle !

It has been a sad day for me – I finally laid the tooth fairy to rest. After more than 20 years of visiting my home, I sent her on her way, one last time, aware that she will no longer flit elusively through these rooms, tantalizing and delighting one child after another, mysteriously appearing when backs are turned and eyes are closed, to claim those hard worn little chips of childhood DNA and carry them off to some magical destination who knows where. / No longer will little minds dance freely in their dream world, to visit her in some enchanting place while money is spun from tooth enamel and those token coins fall through the cracks of their imagination to appear mysteriously in water jars and under pillows, the only traces of that wondrous fairy having been here. My seven year old looked me in the eyes this morning and said / “I am sorry to tell you this Mum, but I know you are the tooth fairy. You don’t have to pretend anymore.” I sighed. / After four children, and being a Mother for 24 years, the game was finally up. The tooth fairy had not visited overnight. The little tooth, which took weeks to remove, was still in the jar beneath the water. (Whoops!) I denied it, I smiled, I teased her, / “The tooth fairy is probably broke right now, or has forgotten because she is tired” but Maya just stared at me knowingly and said / “Look – I know it is you. The truth is in here” and she held up the glass with her little tooth in it, and there at the bottom beneath the water I saw her. Or the fleeting remnants of her. The mysterious person who played games with my children, who taught them to believe in fairies and elementals and all things mystical and beyond this world…who opened the door to imagination and let it all out to run wild and free, or back in to captivate and inspire creativity…..she looked a little like me, but younger, thinner, more ethereal – she was there in that clear water, still holding that little white tooth, and she was sadly waving goodbye to an era….. So I said farewell and thanked her, setting her free one last time. But I know that one day, not so far in the future, she will be back for another generation of children teaching them the joy of imagination and fantasy… / and the more human notion of just another way to earn a dollar…….or two…. (Now, the funny thing is, the tooth fairy may be vanquished, but I have a seven year old who still expects her dollars to be in that glass when she gets home from school…… sometimes I think that the tooth fairy must be very foolish, or just have a wicked sense of humour to have created something this mercenary!)

The cake says it all. I was most impressed with this cake at a recent wedding that I shot, however, the groom did not live up to these expectations!

Four boys in a village half an hour from Dalat. The little flecks on their faces are from tinsel they’d nicked from the Christmas tree inside the local church. They had only been able to take a small piece and there wasn’t enough to share between the four of them. So – they broke it up into pieces and rubbed it all over their faces and in their hair so all of them could sparkle.
