Joyce, I thought you might like this little story I wrote years ago about a mimosa I loved. All the best, Bonnie Mimosa While I was watering the wilted caladiums near my angel statue, I looked up and noticed the mimosa in all its glory. Here I was working diligently to make the caladiums grow, yet there it stood, radiant without human effort. How many other plants had I set in this same spot through the years? The angel’s trumpet . . . impatiens . . . . those unusual little two-tone flowers whose names I can’t remember. All of them curled up and died. The soil was awful here; roots were knotted through the area; the trees sapped all the moisture. I’d wasted many a dollar on this spot, yet there was the mimosa looking down on me in gentle amusement. I had not planted the mimosa. I had never tilled the soil for it. I had not even watered it through the three-year drought. Yet three years ago it had been little more than a naked stick poking from the ground. The only reason it stayed put was that it was too close to the hurricane fence for Tommy to lop it as he mowed. The mimosa was a gift, a pure gift from God. I couldn’t claim any part in its flourishing. Either God’s wind had blown its seed to this corner or God’s birds had unwittingly deposited it. Only the miracle of nature could have made it grow like this without human care or cultivation. Yet now it produced all the color and vibrancy, all the grace and beauty that I had tried to achieve through the years with no success at all. / How like my life, I thought. Sometimes all my strained efforts are fruitless, yet in the midst of the sterility, God drops a single word, a single thought, and everything is suddenly alive and beautiful. Apart from Him, I can do nothing, yet I work like a Trojan to do it anyway. Maybe the gifts are rewards for my efforts, and maybe they are just freely given out of pure love. Who knows? Whatever the reason, the Source is undeniable. “Every good gift and every perfect endowment comes from the Father of Lights,” (James 1:17) the mimosa whispers to me in gentle and amused remembrance.

View THE FALLING GARDEN / By Gerda Steiner & Jorg Lenzlinger Falling Garden / San Staë church on the Canale Grande / 50th Biennial of Venice, 2003 The Doge (Mocenigo) needed a church so as to be able to have a monumental tomb built for himself, the church (San Staë) needed a saint so as to be able to be built, the saint (San Eustachio) needed a miracle so as to be pronounced a saint, the miracle needed a stag in order to be seen, and we built the garden for the reindeer. / The visitors lie on the bed above the doge’s gravestone, and the garden thinks for them. Components: Plastic berries (India), cow pads (Jura), waste paper (Venice), baobab seeds (Australia), beech, elder and magnolia branches (Uster), thorns (Almeria), nylon blossoms (one-dollar-shop), pigs’ teeth (Indonesia), seaweed (Seoul), orange peel (Migros shop), fertilizer crystals (home grown), pigeons’ bones (San Staë), silk buds (Stockholm), cattail (Ettiswil), cats’ tails (China), celery roots (Montreal), virility rind (Caribbean), wild bore quills (zoo), banana leaves (Murten), rubber snakes (Cincinnati).

You always think things like this only happen to somebody else. My poor car is dead… we’ve had her for nearly 10 years, barely ever let me down, and in the blink of an eye – BAM! And she was gone… and I was on my way home from DISNEYLAND too, of all places… what a way to finish celebrating a friend’s birthday dinner at the Happiest Place On Earth today… geez… Well, here’s what happened… I was in the slow lane, decreasing speed because traffic was building up, and alluva sudden I hear this loud screeching behind me. Before I can even look up my rearview mirrors to see what was up, I get hit from what felt like behind, although I later saw that I had been hit on the passenger’s side, and I got hit HARD. Thankfully I had my seatbelt on, so I didn’t fly into the steering wheel and break my face or anything. The minute I recovered from the initial impact, my first thought was “Crap! Oh _crap_… just pull over to the right as fast as you can before another car hits you, and a pileup ensues!” As soon as I looked up after getting hit, I saw another car that was hit, and she was driving a little ways ahead of me and already pulling over. I pulled over right behind her, which was a little complicated, because her back bumper had fallen off and underneath my car, which was making it a little hard to maneuver. We both stopped and stayed in our car for a few minutes. During those minutes, I was scared to get out… I didn’t want to open the door and potentially get hit by another vehicle that was trying to swerve away from the accident. Eventually, we both got out, asked each other if we were okay, and looked behind us. A white van was lying upside down about 20 feet behind us. “Oh God…” Me and the other girl who got hit walked over. Several other cars had stopped, one sheriff and two priests traveling together we talking to this woman who apparently was the driver and had just crawled out of her car. Amazingly, she seemed okay as well – not bleeding, no fractures or broken bones from what we could see, and she was already on the phone with her husband while we were explaining to the sheriff and two priests what had happened. We tried to ask the woman what happened, but it was hard, as she didn’t speak English quite so well… from what we could understand though, it seemed as if she had swerved to try to avoid hitting another car, and ended up hitting me and the other girl, Colleen, instead. Eventually more police showed up and questioned everyone on the scene. I got the time to walk back to my car and check just how badly I was hit… it sure as heck wasn’t pretty… The miracle in all this – NOBODY was hurt!!! Colleen was fine, albeit a little a shaken. I stepped out of the car completely okay, save for a small scrape where my elbow was on the armrest of my seat when I got hit. And the woman who hit us, as I said before, wasn’t even bleeding, hadn’t broken or scratched anything as far as we could see – her husband later picked her up and drove her home without anybody even needing to call an ambulance! My parents later picked me up, and we all went home thanking Jesus that no one had died, let alone gotten hurt… the pictures above are only the pictures of my car, but if you could have seen how much damage was done to the other two cars as well, you’d be all the more amazed that all three of us walked away from this without even a scratch! Something does seem a bit fishy to the police officers though. After inspecting the damage from all three cars, they think a fourth was involved, but if that was so, that fourth car didn’t stick around, so they’re suspecting a hit and run case here. If that’s so, keep that person in your prayers everyone, that s/he doesn’t do any further damage on the freeway… things like this really put life into perspective… you realize that all it takes is just a few horrible seconds for your life to get taken away from you… and for me to be spared like this… all I can do now is pray that God can give me enough goodness to not take for granted the fact that my mother still prays for me every time I walk out the front door to drive somewhere. / ___________ I want to thank You, Lord / For life and all that’s in it / Thank You for the day / And for the hour and for the minute / I know many are gone / I’m still living on / I want to thank You I went to sleep last night / And I arose with the dawn / I know that there are others / Who’re still sleeping on / They’ve gone away / You’ve let me stay / I want to thank You Some thought because they’d seen sunrise / They’d see it rise again / But death crept into their sleeping beds / And took them by the hand / Because of Your mercy / I have another day to live Let me humbly say / Thank You for this day / I want to thank You ~ Maya Angelou

The birth of a new baby may be a daily event, happening ever so many times during the day all over the world. But if you look at the birth of an individual baby, things are quite different. This new little person is a miracle, in its perpetuation of the life cycle, in its potential and perfect shape, formed by the forces of nature in a process of millions and millions of years. But the greatest miracle is this little person when she is your own granddaughter! I am very happy to be able to announce to all my friends here, too, that since nearly a fortnight we have been transferred into the great status of grandparents by our youngest daughter. As the little lady, calles Yfke Isabel, was born four weeks too early, we were somewhat apprenhensive in the very beginning, but now she is at home since five days and developping very well, with her mother in great shape too. Some of you may remember this image For Karin Taylor. I took this picture the day I read Karin Taylor’s journal about her son’s friend Mitchell who was very sick, and many Redbubblers prayed for him. Karin has shown me continuous kindness and support here on RB. She comments my work very often and I could never forget how she has responded so well to my previous journals months ago where I asked for advice: Seeking feedback. Would people buy these? / Origami Passion I prayed for Karin and Mitchell and brought out these cranes saying to myself “I wish Mitchell will be well” with each one I brought out. Upon posting the image more people joined in to pray for Karin and Mitchell, and Karin asked me to make it available for sale so that she could give it to Mitchell as a get well card. Karin has just received that card, however Mitchell has been long out of the hospital now; he has recovered miraculously fast, and it is thanks many prayers. Last night I was thinking about my beautiful aunty and feeling sad about the way she died, and then I started thinking of different ways to die… not that I want to die atm far from it. My aunty suffered a painfull, horrible death. Vommitting up blood and choking on it, it was so bad seeing her like that. Unfortunately I had no idea of how sick she was, I actually thought she was in remission, until my cousin called and said she was dying and I had better hurry if I wanted to say goodbye. This happened two years ago and the shock was enourmous to see her like that, it was my first experience of seeing someone die of cancer. So I thought I don’t want to die like that if I can help it. Then I got to thinking about going to sleep and not waking would probably be one of the better ways of leaving this world. Then I thought what if when we are dreaming and we die we become a part of the dream and then that becomes our new reality….. because I don’t know about you but my dreams can feel incredibly realistic. This thought led to all kinds of random thoughts and possibilities….. I guess it’s something that we don’t like to think about or dwell on but it would be great to hear other people’s thoughts on the matter. Even experiences such as near death or ghosts, angels miracles ?? whatever…. Oh yeah and these are just random thoughts by the way not meant to be offensive to anyone in anyway

At long last, I have heard from my friend, whom we all prayed for! The news is GOOD….so far! She was able to get some help through some sympathetic doctors, who knew the urgency of this situation, and helped her get the treatment she needed. She was in a great deal of pain, for a good while, but it is a bit better. But, still, we will wait, and pray MORE… so when the final results come back, it will be…. “ALL CLEAR”!!! And it shall surely be a MIRACLE… that only God, could have done! Praising His Name…. always. Love to you all….. Jael….. And Merry Christmas! XXXX

You simply have to see these to feel the miracle that has come to life almost 30 years since Mary last appeared in such a way in Egypt over a Church. I feel honoured as She also appeared on the day of my birthday. When I viewed these videos I prayed to our Holy Mother with tears of joy overflowing and asked Her for a special favour for someone dear to me. I can tell you, in Her honour, She answered me and had my prayer request fulfilled today! I LOVE YOU HOLY MOTHER!! Thank you with all my heart! May all who view these videos be filled with the miracle of the love of God for that is the greatest miracle of all! Please note, these reports are AUTHENTIC. The Egyptian government had the lights of the city turned off to see if this had any affect on the said apparitions and nothing affected it. Everything that you see lit up is from the apparitions itself including the crosses that are lit up on the Church. This is a GREAT Christmas gift my brothers and sister!
