  • Taken during the evening….not flattering, but the stars turned out beautifully (in my opinion). The lit-up building is the Iraqi Ministry of Health. ~May 2007, Baghdad, Iraq.

  • Iconic image on Cuban Ministry of the Interior, based on Alberto Korda’s March 1960 photo. During Guevara’s tenure as Minister of the Ministry of Industries (MININD) from 1961 to 1965, this building was the MININD’s headquarters and his office was on the top floor. Havana, Cuba. / / See more of my photgraphy from CUBA / ..................................... / Click here to add me to your watch list. / .....................................

  • “The frost performs its secret ministry”....the opening line of Coleridge’s fine poem, “Frost At Midnight”.

  • Click here to add me to your watch list. / .................................. / The Bank of Nova Scotia building. / Downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland. “The ideal set up by the Party was something huge, terrible, and glittering—a world of steel and concrete, of monstrous machines and terrifying weapons—a nation of warriors and fanatics, marching forward in perfect unity, all thinking the same thoughts and shouting the same slogans, perpetually working, fighting, triumphing, persecuting—three hundred million people all with the same face.” Nineteen Eighty-four—George Orwell

  • oil on canvas / This Painting was a commissioned piece for this passage of scripture. / Luke 4:18-19 / “The spirit of the lord is upon me to preach good news to the poor, sight to the blind, release for the captives and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” / A little explanation: / You will find 12 sections to represent one year – ‘the year of the Lord’s favour’. / Then I set to work on what would be in each of the 12 parts? / One day I was writing out a shopping list and I started to write what I’d need in order to really live this passage… or what I had already perhaps… / Spirit, Light, Voice, Faith, Uncertainty, Hope, Hands, Water, Oil, Feet, Strength, Boldness… / This is a great sending forth… an annointing… a comissioning… / I realised that I had all that it takes and that it would take all that I have in order to live according to this bold sending out…. / Starting from the top left hand corner you will find water… I think, living in Australia, i am so very much aware of how precious water is for life and how water is definitely good news for the poor. Next you will find Hope, the small window of hope at the top signifies that there is always hope, even in the darkest places. / In the top right hand corner you will find Hands, these are actually a painting of a man’s hands that had just saved a life. We can use our hands for so much good in the world and from small things done by hand, incredble things can be achieved. I also think these hands relate so well to the Homeless man’s hands in the bottom left hand corner and therefore connect the painting. / The green is for boldness – if you look closely at the original artwork you can see the word Boldness written in there, I find green such a difficult colour to work with and it takes extreme boldness for me to paint with green… a step out of a comfort zone! / The bubble looking circle is for Strength… sometimes we take strength for granted. What is strength is all contexts, physical, emotional, spiritual etc…? Like a bubble… perhaps it is my interpretation that strength is a gift and it can exist simultaneously as both tangible and intangible in our personal awareness. Voice is represented with words – written and lifted up… we need to have voices for the poor, the oppressed, the captives, the refugees, the neglected, the abused, the blind, the sick, the forgotten… / The child with questioning eyes represents Faith, she has seen the world for what it really is and she looks to us. Then we have oil, oil for annointing – for mission… but I chose to place a woman in this section who represents the middle east, here is a woman who has seen so much devastation in the world because of oil and money and power and war. / Light is represented by a shadow of us, and just how much darkness we walk in, we need to shine light into that darkness. The Homeless man represents Uncertainty – seems a bit like the odd word out in the list – but I like it… its says so much about what it means to be human in all our brokenness – but we are all connected! It’s about not having all the answers but being able to take notice and to see reality in front of us… may the oppressed go free because we choose to step out and take risks! I think Spirit is pretty self explanitory – but its about us all being in this together for the good of all humankind… this is a crowd that can achieve amazing things together!!! / The last section of the painting represents Feet… Feet of readiness to take us where we need to be… it may be just one step at a time… but we have to start walking and taking action. The Spirit is upon us as you can see linking through every section of the painting. I hope that this has helped you understand the work a little more. Thank you for taking time to read this!

  • Located inside a meander of the River Forth at Throsk, 3 miles (5 km) east of Stirling, Bandeath Industrial Estate is a large general industrial and storage complex, meeting the requirements of medium to large manufacturing and distribution users. Refurbished in the early 1980s, it is run by Stirling Council, who purchased the facility from the Ministry of Defence in 1978. Previously a Royal Naval Armament Depot, there are still more than thirty large abandoned ammunition stores regularly-spaced in rows filling the northern part of the site and once linked by railway track. These old stores have now been overrun by locally farmed sheep, making it a rather surreal scene to stumble upon. A friend of mine who keeps an old boat at the site tells me there are old disused tunnels connecting these buildings, although I find it hard to believe with them being so close to the river.

  • Why not! haha

  • Omena Village Presbyterian Church with autumn sky and fall colors. Omena is on the Leelanau Peninsula, which juts out into northern Lake Michigan forming Grand Traverse Bay. Leelanau County, Michigan has many small historic communities.

  • A brilliantly witty piece of stencil graffiti of the famous Monty Python Funny Walk sketch. It’s the one where the wonderful John Cleese is a civil servant in the Ministry of Silly Walks and true to his role stalks around his office in a series of increasingly daft walks. Someone has taken the time and effort to cut out a stencil of eight stages of the most iconic of the Silly Walks and then to go to a particularly unattractive and scruffy industrial area on Manchester to spray the stencil right at the bottom of a garage door. Very bizarre!

  • “From whence then hast Thou that living water?” John 4:11 This painting was inspired by the moving devotions penned and published by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900’s. His powerful book, My Utmost for His Highest, continues to touch my life and draw me closer to Jesus. I hope that this art and verse do the same for you! Read the devotional from My Utmost For His Highest that inspired this work. Impoverished Ministry Of Jesus, VerseVisions® Art; John 4:11. Mark Lawrence, 2008. • Francine has decided to celebrate her appointment as Minister of Travel with a tour around town on her Ostrimobilecopter. Make sure you wave if you look up and see Francine – she’ll honk her Ostrihorn for you! This original artwork is copyright Ramona Szczerba 2008. Image cannot be reproduced without my express written permission. Thanks!

  • The updated version of Minnie. I’ve been trying to get her to render for a few months now-the program used was Carrara 7 Pro Beta version.

  • Strathspey Steam Railway, Aviemore station, Scotland, December 2008. I like the way this shot turned out with a kind of ‘old time’ feel

  • Ministry of Silly Walks. Here are a dozen examples of just how silly a person can walk. There are many many more instances of sillyness especially in the walking department.

  • Greetings from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia… Wish you were Here! In a conservative city where photography has not been that long legal, opportunities to capture some shots of the city can be few and far between. Ministry buildings can even be that little bit harder! Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia / February 2009 The Ministry of the Interior oversees the provincial governates, public security & law enforcement, the coast guards, civil defence, fire prevention services, border police, special security, domestic intelligence (Mabahith al-’Amma), special investigative functions, including criminal investigation and is responsible for liaising with the Mutawa Religious Police) in the kingdom. The Prince has exhibited a high degree of broad mindedness, when asked about the certain issues facing the royal family the prince responded, “These shortcomings and mistakes can happen in any society. We are trying to solve our mistakes. I would say that nobody is one hundred percent perfect.” As the Interior Minister, Prince Nayef is also the Supervisor General of the Saudi Committee for the Al Quds Intifada, which supports and compensates the families of the Palestinian refugees across the world Intifada. He has been instrumental in committing acts of charities not only to palestanians but also for the Post Tsunami Aid, 2005 Pakistan earthquake, etc. His monetary contributions have been viewed, as possible incentives to carry out such bombings. It is believed that Prince Nayef has personally contributed at least $33 million in charity. The critical nature of Prince Nayef’s is that he is very much required for the stability of the kingdom. He has been instrumental in breaking barriers, for example it was Prince Nayef, and not foreign minister Saud al Faisal, who went to Iran for a ground breaking meeting to renew relations with the regime in April 2001. Similarly, it is the job of the information minister to control the content of all media in the Kingdom. Since 1995, the position has been held by Dr. Fouad bin Abdul Salaam bin Muhammad Al Farsi—but Prince Nayef heads the Supreme Council on Information, which oversees the processing of information including controls on the World Wide Web. Prince Nayef implemented the Al Saud decision to begin issuing women with identity cards in November 2001. The Directorate of Civil Status issued the first identity cards to women on 3 November, thus making it much easier for women to carry out transactions – financial, legal and social – and is therefore considered a highly significant move. Previously women were registered on their husband’s or father’s identity cards. Of Late Prince Nayef has been instrumental in working to bring the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a major economic hub for the middle east. Source: Wikipedia

  • One of the many hazards on the roads of Britain that the long-suffering lorry driver had to face was the dreaded Ministry of Transport’s roadside inspections at check points set up at random in lay-byes on trunk roads. Once stopped the men from the Ministry would go over the victim’s vehicle with a fine tooth comb looking for overloading, bald tyres, faulty lights, smokey engines etc. the list is endless and many a lorry was immediately taken off the road for being in a dangerous condition. Here a Leyland artic of Smiths of Eccles is directed by a policeman into the waiting arms of the Ministry men, what his fate will be we don’t know but you can bet they’ll find something if only it’s a frayed rope! The original of this painting was in oils on a 20”x30” board. A painting like this of your favourite vehicle, British or American, in oils on canvas or board would cost about £1000.
