  • Every Little Peace
    by Mui-Ling Teh

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Just one sheet makes a big difference; / One sheet that can make over 2000 cranes. / Each crane a step closer to a better world; / Each piece a step closer to peace. Each square in the grid paper is 5×5mm; and to be exact, there were 2028 full squares in the paper When I was in grade 5 our teacher read “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes” to our class. Sadako Sasaki was infected with leukemia. She spent her days folding cranes and making wishes upon them; wishing for her health and for a more peaceful world (the quote above is my writing inspired by the story of the thousand paper cranes). I had difficulty photographing this; and am not fully satisfied with the end result, but I suppose this is the best I can do with my camera (I’m satisfied with the origami though!) I hope everyone likes the idea anyhow. For me it’s always more about the origami than the photography skills. This piece has been included among RB’s featured pages, and in the following groups: / Inspired Art / _Winner of The Challenge For a better idea of scale: / / More Sample Origami:

  • Inspiration: Tilt Shift Miniatures

Remember the fun we had creating Little Planets? W…

Remember the fun we had creating Little Planets? Well here’s another cool technique we think you might enjoy playing around with. Tilt shift miniature photography uses a technique where a tilt shift lens is used to make real life scenes appear as miniature scale models. / / The good news for those who don’t have the budget for an expensive lens is that this effect can easily be achieved using photo editing software like PhotoShop or Gimp (which is free). Below are some amazing tilt shift miniatures from around the web to get you inspired: / Keith Loutit’s time-lapse tilt-shift videos / Serpentine by Harald Kirr / Harvard Book Store by Azripal / Tiltshift, outside Waterloo station by Cloudsoup Keen to give this a try? The following links should help to get you started: Creating the tilt shift miniature effect in Photoshop or Gimp: Gimp tutorial PhotoShop tutorial by Alison Johnston Faking tilt-shift in PhotoShop by Martin Pot Using a tilt shift lens: Build a DIY Tilt-Shift Camera Lens Using a tilt shift lens Using a tilt shift lens (video) And just for fun … (purists – look away now): A website that will do it for you An app for your iphone that will allow you to achieve the miniature effect For more inspriation, look no further than these tilt shift miniatures from our very own talented bubblers: / US Open final … in minature by hazy / Sydney Opera House by Lorraine Creagh / Robin Hoods Bay, Tilt Shift by TallGuy / Monsal Head – The Peak District by Steven Lee / Minature Bangkok by David Goymer If you’d like to give this a go, please feel free to post your results below … and don’t forget to add them to the The Tilt-Shift Photography Gallery. • Amber Eyes
    by Karen Hull

    US$4.66

ACEO / miniature art of a beautiful Tabby called Neska, with amber eyes, done with coloured pencils and ink on drafting film. Neska’s eyes are actually green in colour but I wanted to add to my series of artwork featuring cat’s eyes ( Emerald Eyes, Sapphire Eyes and Turquoise Eyes). There is such diversity in the colours that cat’s eyes come in and I never tire of admiring the beauty of their eyes. Reference photo for this artwork was taken by Ainhoa Pcb http://www.flickr.com/photos/ainhoap/455734885/ and was used with her kind permission.

  • Moonlight Becomes You
    by Richard Veal

    US$5.32–US$121.60

The moonlight was shining through my front porch window as I gave my miniature roses a ‘bedtime shower’, and the light was beautifully highlighting certain areas, while silhouetting other parts of the rose buds. Hope you like it. / Thank you for looking. Best Viewed Large.

  • Mare with New Born Foal
    by Jenny Brice

    US$4.32–US$98.80

Missy, a chestnut Miniature Pony, caring for her new born filly foal. Many foals are born during the night, but this one arrived in the late afternoon/early evening and I was priviledged to be present to not only witness, but also photograph the ever new miracle of the birth of a beautiful foal. I was actually on my way, that day, to photograph the young Kookaburras in the late afternoon light, when I noticed Missy lying down, about to give birth. I forgot the Kookaburras and spent the next couple of hours photographing the whole birth process, the mare cleaning her foal, the foal’s struggles to get to her feet and stay on them and eventually, her first drink. • A Doxie and a Golden – Two of a kind! Golden Retrievers are without any doubt smart and loyal dogs. But the Dachshund is a good dog too, smart and fast, and a comedy show on its own. The ‘Wiener’ is an early warning system. The Golden only barks when necessary and is good for ‘effect’ when you consider intruders…big bark and big presence. It takes a special person to own a doxie. This Barking Sausage is very stubborn and an independent thinker, and a little difficult to housebreak. Goldens are good at paying attention and learn quickly. ‘Hot dogs’ do not care that they are small. Waldi (that’s the German nickname for dachshund) acts like a big dog in a small body, keeps up with the big dogs and will usually be the “boss”. Golden Retrievers want nothing more than our love. They are all about pleasing their family and know our every mood. Dackel, (that’s how the Dachshund is usually called in Germany) are playful, curious, and bold, but they prefer older, considerate children who respect their dog’s space and privacy. Golden’s are the best dog for kids of all ages. gentle, reliable and trustworthy, yet protective. Doxies ‘think’ that they can rule the world and have a great heart. Golden’s have a great heart and ‘know’ that they can rule the world. The Dachshund and the Golden Retriever are both very good dogs, and to own both of them is a lot of fun. Just make sure you have a good vacuum cleaner! Thank you for being a friend /

  • This ACEO / miniature art (2.5×3.5 inches) was completed in coloured pencil on drafting film. This arwork is part of a series entitled “Cat’s Eyes Gems”, which includes Emerald Eyes and Sapphire Eyes. / The pencils used were mostly oil pencils – Faber Castell Polychromos and Lyra, but also used Prismacolor Verithins for some of the finer detail.
