Just returned from a memorable holiday in Cornwall UK. This is one of the tin mine buildings that are dotted about the place …. it used to be the backbone of Cornwalls economy , but due to extraction costs, one by one the mines closed … Four images blended in Photoshop CS3 Copyright Richie Dean 2008

an old mining pit wheel in a village near where i live, these are dotted about all over this part of the country, left to celebrate the past glory days of the coal mining industry, the sun was just going down, there was frost on the ground and i was frozen !!!!!

‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Nancy, Patsy, Ellen and Red Dog is a mixed media production. I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper. The original painting was just auctioned for charity recently. This work was also inspired by the _‘Legend of Red Dog aka The Pilbara Wanderer’, as is ‘Where is Red Dog’. Red Dog was an adventurous dog who seemed to belong to an entire community. / When his soulmate John died, Red Dog searched for him for the rest of his days, that’s loyalty for you! This painting depicts the time Red Dog’s search for John took him all the way from the dusty outback to Cottesloe Beach, with the girls from his hometown hot on his tail…... If you look closely you can see the tips of Red Dog’s ears way out past the breakers!

I’ve been playing with it for getting on for a month now and the recent changes are really looking good — it’s really come on since the first version I got to play with. Here’s mine. Show me yours. PS: At any given moment mine could look horrible, I’m still messing, still trying to break it. ;-)

Outback people do it tough and have a real odd sense of humour. Here in Tibooburra the outdoor theatre is provided with chairs sitting on desert soil,the shadows created caught my eye and I composed this image.

The original painting was inspired by the legend of ‘Red Dog’, aka ‘The Pilbara Wanderer’ of Western Australia. Red Dog was a loyal friend and stout companion to all who knew him. In this painting, the girl on the skateboard represents us in our search for love and acceptance and ‘Red Dog’ symbolises that quintessential spirit of the friend, whose love and acceptance we all yearn for.
