  • Odd fashion shot

  • This full frontal shot of a female ant-mimicking spider, shows up her eyes on the front and sides of her head. This exposes her as a spider because its ant model, has only two large compound eyes. / A small spider (6-8mm) which mimicks the appearance of an ant. With the naked eye it actually looks like an ant. Its prey? – correct, it hunts ants. Even the two front legs are adapted to look like antlers. A very shy but also very quick arachnid always on the move (like ants), it was very difficult to photograph

  • The Superb Lyrebird is an amazing mimic. / Copying numerous bird calls and other / sounds of the forest. To stand in a forest / watching (or listening to) a Lyrebird is / an unforgetable experience. Read more about my wildlife photography here

  • This is an Eastern collared lizard, and this particular specimen belongs to a subspecies of the broader genus that inhabits the few remaining glade habitats in southern Missouri’s Ozark Mountains. I personally really like this image because the colorful, lichen covered rocks are just as beautiful as the lizard, and the two together make for a special treat! / /

  • A street performer mime in Nahalat Binyamin Art Market, Tel Aviv Israel. Nahalat Binyamin Arts & Crafts Market in Tel Aviv, Israel. Next to the busy Carmel Market entrance, this pedestrian’s walkway is jam-packed with street stalls. A festival of arts, crafts, pottery, and street performances, Nahalat Binyamin offers a pleasant stroll and some beautiful bits and pieces. Every Tuesday and Friday, vendors display their merchandise on little tables along the paved part of Nahalat Binyamin St. You can find jewelry, painted ceramics, special toys, lampshades, Judiaca and many more objects of different sort; there is quite a selection.

  • A portrait of Deroplatys lobata – full frontal. The photo was taken late in the evening, after the lights in her terrarium went out – hence the dark eyes.

  • Beautifully coloured pet macaw parrot who can mimic most things. My childhood is filled with memories of the funny things that happened as a result of him mimicing voices and noises. Very funny and intelligent bird. If you would like to buy a card and/or print just go to buy/preview

  • ...I liked this, the two birds were across a pool from one another and one just kept mimicing the other perfectly…very cool to watch!

  • Incredible showing of an insect that survives by mimicry. Check out his tail, I think any predator would think twice about attacking that! A crazy earwig type bug with amazing colour patterns and check his feet out… Taken at Ravenshoe, Far Nth Queensland, Australia with a Canon PowerShot A480

  • This is quite interesting, it is actually a spider that looks to me it’s trying to behave just like the ants we have here…orange legged ants that stick their butts up in the air, just like this, I thought it was an ant then realised upon looking closer it was indeed a spider, what a nifty little arachnid! Ravenshoe, Far Nth Queensland, Australia, taken with Canon PowerShot A480 on supermacro. I think I have a piccy of the ant in question I’ll link here…
