Oh man… It took me forever to get this one to the point where I would submit it here to RedBubble, haha. Anyway, it’s loosely based off of a tattoo design I drew up a while back. I was wanting “Strong and Courageous” in Latin across the banner, but the translators I found online came up with “Validus quod Fortis” which means “Mighty and Strong.” But it works well enough for me ;) Hope you guys like it!

Uluru The Worlds Largest Monolith I recieved a phone call from a friend at Uluru who told me that it was / “Raining on The Rock” I had only ever seen it with solid blue skies after numerous visits. I said to my wife “put on your lippy, were heading for Uluru! We left Melbourne a few hours later, the distance from Melbourne to Uluru/Ayers Rock is 1170 miles / 2000 kilometres, we stayed one night in Burra an old copper mining town and one night in Coober Pedy where most of the worlds Opals are mined. Coober Pedy is like the wild west ! We arrived at the Uluru / Kata Tjuta National Park around 3pm after driving through wonderful torrential rain with low visibility for hours. I dropped my wife off at the resort and drove like crazy the next 14 kilometres deep into the area where Uluru sat so majestic, it is so large that from 10 kilometres out you feel like you could almost reach out and touch it. The rain hadn’t eased , I was shooting with Agfa Ulta Proffesional film which was only 50 ISO, so very slow with exceptionally high colour saturation. / I didn’t think I would have enough light to take a shot! As I drove closer the rain started to ease and would you believe the sun came out, I stopped my car in a non designated area, grabbed my camera and looked through my viewfinder. I was using a Leica R8 with a 200mm lens, / It was too powerful and I had to run into a field of “Ouch” thisles behind me to get the whole of Uluru in the frame. As I walked backwards I slipped and twisted my ankle ‘Big Ouch” but I had to get the shot !!! I finally had it all in frame ..Click.. Gotcha..click..Gotcha, then,oh no, I was out of film, couldn’t believe it !!! I hobbled back to the car, changed the film over, looked up and the cloud was gone!!!! I didn’t see the results for 3 weeks, had to wait till I arrived back in Melbourne to take the film to the pro lab, when I collected the proof sheet they told me I had a winner. I was overwhelmed with the result, I don’t believe there is another image like this anywhere. It has been shown in galleries and purchased mounted and framed for $750.00 I hope you enjoy this image Ronald Rockman / / SHOULD DEFINITELY BE VIEWED LARGE! / THIS PIECE IS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE AS A: / • Card / • Canvas Print / • Framed Print / • Laminated Print / • Matted Print / • Mounted Print PS I had over 550 hits on this image and 195 favourites before I accidentally deleted it , Ha LOL !!! /

Another shot of the wreck GOOD HOPE that is at Skippool creek in Lancashire England. / Many boats have been abandoned here, this is largest wreck there. THE PORT OF POULTON – SKIPPOOL creek Poulton had two ports one on either bank of the River Wyre, on the south side at Skippool and on the north side at Wardleys in Hambleton. During the 18th century this was an important trading facility for Poulton, which had its own customs house, dealing in mahogany and flax with Baltic ports and coastal trade with farm produce to Liverpool, Lancaster and Cumbria. The rise of Glasson Dock and Fleetwood ended Skippool’s importance as a port. Today it is a popular venue for sailing and photographers taking pictures of wrecked boats….. / Thhis is a 3 shot HDR that has been given the orton effect Shot with a NIKON D70s / with a 10-20mm lens /

10×14 watercolor enhanced colored pencil. The original is sold. / A double portrait of the North American Cougar.. truly a beautiful cat, even if it is a little on the bland side. Did you know that cougar’s purr? It’s a wonderful sound. On this particular piece, the color washes really helped bring out the cats coloring without having to break my arm with the pencils. The cougar (Puma concolor), also puma, mountain lion, catamount, or panther, is a mammal of the Felidae family, native to the Americas. This large, solitary cat has the greatest range of any wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere, extending from Yukon in Canada to the southern Andes of South America. An adaptable, generalist species, the cougar is found in every major New World habitat type. It is the second heaviest cat in the New World, after the jaguar, and the fourth heaviest in the world, after the tiger, lion, and jaguar, although it is most closely related to smaller felines. A capable stalk-and-ambush predator, the cougar pursues a wide variety of prey. Its primary food is ungulates such as deer, particularly in the northern part of its range, but it hunts species as small as insects and rodents. It prefers habitats with dense underbrush for stalking, but it can live in open areas. The cougar is territorial and persists at low population densities. Individual territory sizes depend on terrain, vegetation, and abundance of prey. While it is a large predator, it is not always the dominant species in its range, as when it competes for prey with animals such as the gray wolf. It is a reclusive cat and usually avoids people. Attacks on humans remain rare, despite a recent increase in frequency. Due to persecution as a dangerous pest animal following the European colonization of the Americas, and continuing human development of cougar habitat, populations have dropped in many parts of its historical range. In particular, the cougar was extirpated in eastern North America, except an isolated sub-population in Florida; the animal may be recolonizing parts of its former eastern territory. With its vast range, the cougar has dozens of names and various references in the mythology of the indigenous peoples of the Americas and in contemporary culture. (info from Wikipedia)
