Atlanta’s Midtown skyline, a constantly evolving skyline, which from Piedmont Park appears to blossom from a forest.

The shape of this building attracted me. The last two times that I’ve been in New York, I’ve been back to look at it and try to capture it.
Another shot taken on Thanksgiving day. These buildings just seemd so overpowering. I can’t imagine working in one. They remind me of those ant farms that were popular when I was a kid.
This isn’t a shot of a building that I flipped in Photoshop. It’s designed to look this way if you stand in the corner and shoot almost straight up. I did take a bit of tweaking as it’s not designed to be perfectly symmetrical. One wing of the building is shorter than the other. It’s a really well designed building with a wonderful abstract quality. Love the skyscrapers of MIdtown Manhattan.
Mysterious Midtown. / New York City / December 2007
Midtown Manhattan Towers, a Slice of the big Apple, New York City, pen and ink drawing by RD Riccoboni. I often find making a pen and ink drawing helps refill my creative well. Perhaps starkness of the black and white helps stir my imagination.

This is a view of Midtown Manhattan looking down 41st Street from Park Avenue. The little building off in the distance (at the end of the street beyond the bridge) is the infamous New York Public Library…the one with the fancy lions perched outside :) – I enhanced the photo in Photoshop. / If you would like to see another interpretation of this piece…please see the portfolio of the fantastic Samuel Durkin He has been working on a series of paintings on the topic of famous cities around the world and has asked to use a few of my NYC images as a starting point for some of his New York paintings. I must say that I was thrilled and honored to contribute. His work can be found here
I took this photograph on a cold December morning at sunrise. The sun was behind me hence the golden reflection on buildings. During the winter the views are very clear and crisp. Clouds were approaching and very soon covered the sky. I have another photograph I shot a few minutes later when it got cloudy. You can find that photo here as well.
Mid-town Manhattan F Train Station at 57th Street. Shot with a digital SLR this past summer and enhanced in photoshop and corel photo pro. While it remains a bit chilly outside…I’ve decided to play with a few of my older shots and have fun editing. Layers and model from free stock.

From the top of the Empire State Building. This is perhaps an image to explore: note the contrasting (darker) buildings at bottom right, the prominence of the Chrysler, and the aircraft lining up to land at La Guardia… Processing: HDR generated from five exposures of a single image using Photomatix. The funky shop that still uses the severely bipolar manikin in mid-town Sacramento is called Cheap Thrills. This isn’t the original Cheap Thrills store or location. That store’s owners decided to ‘call it a day’ just before the economy went to hell in a handbasket. This incarnation looks even funkier than the original but I’ll have to go inside to be sure. One thing for certain tho: I can Charleston like a flapper from early last century – even in high heels – so this dress hanging out front? It’s soooooooooooooo mine for Halloween. Hehehe! Once again, bizarre “X-tra” editing inspired by some woman named Nancy or some such. :-D
