Just after sunrise while hiking through the dunes in Gateway National Park, this red-winged blackbird started calling loudly and displaying its red patch. I love the soft light of the morning. Red-winged blackbirds are extremely aggressive little birds, and will readily harass raptors and other larger species. An osprey flew overhead a few moments after this photo, and the red-winged blackbird gave chase. Sandy Hook – Gateway National Park / Middletown, New Jersey April 27, 2009

While shooting shorebirds at Sandy Hook, I noticed a juvenile common tern screaming loudly on the end of a jetty with mom and dad nowhere in sight. I climbed out onto the rocks and figured if I waited long enough a parent might come and feed it. Twenty minutes later I saw an adult tern fishing just off the jetty. After awhile it caught a small fish, and quickly flew to the rocks and fed the juvenile. 12/9/09 ~ Featured in the Canon DSLR group ~ Thank you very much!!! :o) Sunrise at the Star Barn, Middletown, Pennsylvania. BigD and I stopped at the Star Barn for sunrise and sunset on 12/6/09. In this shot…. the sun was just clearing the horizon and shedding warm light on the barn. The artchitecture of the Star Barn is great. There are plans to relocate this barn to Grantville, PA. Natural color, very slight tweaking of the lighting. / Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi with Polarizing lens / F stop: F/6.3 Exposure: 1/200 sec. / Focal length: 18.0 mm Flash: flash did not fire, / Shutter speed (Tv): 7.6

12/14/09 ~ Featured in Rural Around the Globe ~ Thank you kindly!! :o) A beautiful country barn along Route 441 in Middletown, Pennsylvania. Taken on 12/6/09 on the way home from the Conowingo Dam – Big D and I decided to taken advantage of everything we saw on the way home!!! The original image was kind of blah…. so I decided to enhance it!! I added two different layers of sky with some sunrays (the original sky was white), I multiplied the image, cloned out the main road, did some dodging, etc. The barn itself is pretty much as is. I hope I didn’t manipulate it too bad!!
