a severe storm looms heavily over the tranquil waters of Tin Can Bay in Qld. after many many hours and km’s…. this storm was dead and I thought I had missed a ‘dream shot’. The lightinging had become so sparse it seemed ridiculous even sitting on the beach to watch, yet alone be set up to photograph lightning ! / But alas ! this storm had one final freak discharge to exult to earth….ahhh….patience and persistence. :) / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking below / /
Taken in the city (Melbourne). This man took a moment to send a message and didn’t even notice the little bird quietly sitting beside him
The Ring – a symbol of the eternity of Love with no beginning, and no end.
Camping a couple of nights at this beautiful spot was almost surreal…surrounded by tropical rainforest and the calcium rich waters from flowing through limestone country made it look even more idyllic – seclusion,isolation..add some fantastic company and a natural heaven is there.. as always – thanks for viewing and yes these are/were the actual colours of the original transperancy. / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my photography from Nth Qld below / /

This composition came to fruition around midnight in the middle of nowhere in western NSW. recommended – click image for a better view Another photograph that has been years in the waiting for everything to fall into alignment – this time the elements required were: / - night with a northerly wind to keep out any moist or damp air and blow back any salty spray/mist. fogging up the lens. / - no moon. / - no clouds. / - a high tide. / - it be warm/hot enough for me not to freeze. / - no work the following day. A combination that is not easy to get on Victoria’s South Gippsland coastline…. In the photograph you will see an almost diagonal line across the star trails formed by a spectacular meteorite as it blazed across the night sky. / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / larger file coming when time permits
Twice a day as the tides receed nature’s tidal artwork is unveiled – and what an exhibition it can be ! At glance it may be missed…but with a keener eye patterns emerge..sometimes contoured, other times smooth. Only can nature make such pieces of work that define true beauty on a seemingly endless scale. / / / Canon EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more of my photography from Nth Qld below / / /

I took this photograph whilst on a morning beach walk in central Qld in 2007. I feel this photo is symbolic to many who struggle with illness in life – The beam of light resembling a ray of hope. I’d think that it would be pretty rare for anyone viewing this to not have a family member or friend or perhaps even themselves battling or battled cancer…The Anti cancer council does an amazing job and it is this organisation that I would gladly donate any profits made from this photograph to. I urge anyone effected to find some time to donate to the Anti cancer council / / / Canon EOS A2, Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / OR buy a card and I’ll do the donation /
as always – click image for a better view / / / The last glow of the sun bounces off the sky behind me, ever so beautifully painting the white railing on the jetty with it’s soft warm hues… / On this evening only one lone seagull perches…perhaps watching the giant sting ray that is gliding through the shallows below… / / / / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. From the high plains to the deserts – the Eucalyptus is botanically iconic to Australia. With over 700 species ranging from stunted shrubs in the arid regions to the tallest flowering plant on the planet, their diversity is as grand as their stature. Most species are not frost or cold tolerant (temps down to -5C) though there is one species that lives in the alps of the mainland affectionately known as the ’snow gum’. (Eucalyptus pauciflora ). Whilst three other cold tolerant species exist in the highlands of central Tasmania. Growing as woodlands or open woodlands from 1300m-1800m ASL in Tasmania,Victoria and New South Wales where they form the altitudinal limit of the tree line. The ’snow gum’ can become a gnarled old warrior as it eeks out an existance in poor soil with short growing seasons in harsh climates. Sometimes shedding bark revealing bright green, yellow or even orange-red under bark. It certainly makes for a brilliant dash of colour particularly in the snow. When in these alpine regions I often find it hard not to get ‘lost’ in their beauty and character and always find myself searching for those special individuals. Specimans with so much character that they speak for themselves. Here in the western top-end of Australia another pulse storm rockets up high in the atmosphere and unleashes a torrent of rain onto those lucky few beneath it …relief from the stifling heat and humidity associated with the late build up season…Don’t wait for it to come to you though….they are not called pulse storms for no reason…and just as quickly as it forms, it disapates…not even a drop at this location with its core within several km’s…This Magnetic termite field has no doubt scored well already this season with the plain a vibrant green glowing beneath a spectacular 30seconds of sunshine. / / – for those interested, a bit more about this photograph,my thinking and feelings about it. (taken from one of my own comments) / / This photograph like so many others of mine is born from a concept I have had for many years…for me it sums up the region beautifully and is what I’d class as iconic in some ways as I am always drawn and intrigued by the integral link between climate, topography and nature – it’s a marvellous symbiotic existance of all things being…. many trips through out these type of plains wishing or visualising, but the componants never aligning left me disatisfied with the results til now… / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking below / /
It’s not too often that I ‘shoot’ during the middle of the day, but this place was so divine I could not resist a second longer in grabbing my camera gear out. Within no time I had set about finding a composition that I felt summised the place and my ecstacy as well as possible… / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more from this series and other parts of our majestic coast by clicking below /
As always – click image for a better view / / A chilly morning on the Mt William range sees cloud and mist plummet off the ridgeline as the colder air sinks into the shadows of the range. Meanwhile the rising sun warms the rockfaces and slopes to the west, forcing the cold damp air to warm, rise and dry – thus lifting and dissapating the ‘downstream flow’ of this ‘waterfall of clouds’. / This ongoing spectacle continued for several hours and was a real highlight to watch and experience ! / / / / Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching.
