The aliens, who spend nights programming us, implanted the “eat worms” idea into our minds, at the same time whispering, “heat the planet, heat the planeeeeett.” Decades later, survivors set off, from a rapidly roasting Earth, flying on hope that the hyper-light drive and a steady diet of worms would ensure the survival of the human species. As the centuries passed, they marvelled at how long, thin and slimy they had become. At last, they had arrived at Grissmop34, targeted years ago as the most suitable habitation, by the ZKW2 central space-scanning computer. It was so powerful, it had long ago started programming itself and conducting research, scanning black holes, space time fabric and a host of other increasingly abstract and mostly unfathomable conceptual areas, at least according to Mik, the space computer engineer. He was privately worried that although most of the results were communicated back to the Space Ark, there were anomalies, huge communications dark areas on which time was spent, but no data was revealed. He needed to tell the PHT (Presiding Human Transfer) officer about his discoveries. No time now –they braced for a rough landing, in what appeared to be a rough, lumpy green, rolling hills landscape. They touched down, and managed just one collective scream, as the “hills” rolled rapidly in towards them. Zgriptlath, rotated his eye, and a smile creased, what could be construed as a mouth, in reality a large vertical slit, in a fifty metre high bulbous face. He looked down, clutching his prize. “Watcha got?” Lklopp inquired lazily, looking up from the water where he was fishing. “It seems the “Earthworms” have arrived at last,” chuckled Zgriptlath. “Oh good”, I was beginning to worry that ZKW2 had managed to override our instructions.
