Filling up a glass of water and noticed this out of the kitchen window. Literally ran outside with a t-shirt and slippers on to get this before it went. First few shots were a golden amber in color then it went to this before it disappeared. Only snapped about 30 bracketed shots before it was gone. Gonna go a repot my orchid while this is uploading (and I finished it, thanks dial-up). Hope you like it. Please critique… print available here and on my website. Sunrise on the Chicago skyline with Lake Michigan aglow. The 3 block rocks were covered with a coating of ice and along with the posts reminded me of Stonehenge. Worked in Layers by placing two widely different exposed images on top of each other and removing parts of one image to leave the deep colors of the sky and keep the highlighted icy block rocks. This done using Adobe Photoshop CS3.
This image was taken in the Sleeping Bears Dune National Park. This is the Platte River near the mouth of Lake Michigan. The Platte River cuts through this park. Thank you for viewing and your time. This park is located in the state of Michigan, USA.
I think the moment I have been waiting for finally arrived. It was a beautiful winter’s day along the shoreline at Lake Michigan. The first thing I thought of when I came across the scene was pristine. Two lonely trees standing proud amongst the snow covered sand dunes. I thought they look so pretty against the fresh fallen snow and beautiful earth tone colors of the dune grass and blue sky. Taken in the late afternoon, Northwest Indiana. I might add also its was so cold out was so glad to get back to the car LOL. My second out with the Sigma and I think I’m in love with this lens. I found one more I just like to share with you all from the other day. One lonely tree braven the harsh winter we have been having here in Northwest Indiana. Taken along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. I got the title from a song made famous by Three Dog Night many years ago LOL one of my fav rock bands way back then. It just pop into my head when I was working on this image. Northwest Indiana, Jan 2009. Nikon D80 Sigma 10-20mm lens used. Thanks for looking. © Curtiss P Simpson
Beautiful dune grass cloaked in snow at the shoreline of Lake Michigan. I soften this one up a bit as the snow was so find like powder I wanted to lay in it but I didn’t this scene was much colder then the image portrays. It was a beautiful day on this day. This is a re edit of my And Then There Were Three which is in my gallery. I thought it would look nice in a pano view with the trees that looked as if they were reaching towards the sky. I took this back in Feb of 2009 along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, Northwest Indiana. Nikon D80 Sigma 10-20mm lens used. F10 1/400 10mm. Thanks for looking. © Curtiss P Simpson
The perspective of the dancer transports this overpass setting into a new realm populated by Parthenons and other significant ruins.
Alone, she prays for her chance to escape, he’s had her held here for what seems like months..she keeps going back to that day she was snatched from her world, it was a beautiful day, she took that short walk through the woods to the little lake that she has come to since she was a little girl, not knowing the evil that was lurking and watching, and now she’s here, held against her will..his prisoner.. she lays down on the dirt floor, closes her eyes and escapes to her dreams..the dreams of being Anywhere BUT here. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens I do believe this is actually farmers quarters, there were 3 of these houses right next to each other.
He felt it as soon as he walked in the house..THE EVIL..yet one look at his new brides face wiped that feeling away..she loved it, and all he wanted to do is please her, and please her he did when she turned to him with “I Love it” on her lips..he turned to the real estate agent and said “We’ll take it”...from that day his world was turned upside down..The voices started not long after moving day, telling him that “she was no good” his beautiful wife…convincing him he would be better without her..whispering those terrible things he should do to “Fix” her..Now he sits at the top of the stairs looking down at the bottom where she lays crumbled and not moving..flashes of remembrance coming in and out..her running with him on her heals, screaming for her to “come back”...her slipping..reaching for him, tumbling..and now all he can hear is the voices again..claiming him, he knows now he is forever here in this evil house..IN ITS GRIP.. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR lens
Thankfully even through high winds and alot of rain, a tree in my daughters back yard stood with beautiful leaves still on its branches and a blanket of them on the ground, after tomorrow we are in for more high winds I am sure alot of these will be falling off like crazy.
