I think the moment I have been waiting for finally arrived. It was a beautiful winter’s day along the shoreline at Lake Michigan. The first thing I thought of when I came across the scene was pristine. Two lonely trees standing proud amongst the snow covered sand dunes. I thought they look so pretty against the fresh fallen snow and beautiful earth tone colors of the dune grass and blue sky. Taken in the late afternoon, Northwest Indiana. I might add also its was so cold out was so glad to get back to the car LOL. My second out with the Sigma and I think I’m in love with this lens. Beautiful dune grass cloaked in snow at the shoreline of Lake Michigan. I soften this one up a bit as the snow was so find like powder I wanted to lay in it but I didn’t this scene was much colder then the image portrays. Filling up a glass of water and noticed this out of the kitchen window. Literally ran outside with a t-shirt and slippers on to get this before it went. First few shots were a golden amber in color then it went to this before it disappeared. Only snapped about 30 bracketed shots before it was gone. Gonna go a repot my orchid while this is uploading (and I finished it, thanks dial-up). Hope you like it. Please critique… print available here and on my website. I found one more I just like to share with you all from the other day. One lonely tree braven the harsh winter we have been having here in Northwest Indiana. Taken along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. I got the title from a song made famous by Three Dog Night many years ago LOL one of my fav rock bands way back then. It just pop into my head when I was working on this image. Northwest Indiana, Jan 2009. Nikon D80 Sigma 10-20mm lens used. Thanks for looking. © Curtiss P Simpson

Taken near Holland, Michigan in October 2007. The winds were very strong that day. Very hard to shoot pictures with all the sand blowing around. I loved it though. :) Thanks, Brion.
Last one from yesterdays shoot. I wanted to capture some shelf ice on Lake Michigan as it was completely frozen over as far as the eye could see. But just couldn’t find a good angle my shadow kept getting in the way LOL. So I found these trees to be so pretty amongst the beautiful dune grass and fresh fallen snow. So I worked this area for about an hour taking pictures on one tree two tree three trees different angles ect LOL. A landscape view of Its A Beautiful Winter’s Day. Not sure about the comp as my eyes are kind of all over the place but I think its a pretty picture though. Taken along the shore line of Lake Michigan, Northwest Indiana Jan of 2009.
