  • I actually drew quite a few years ago. It is of course, Based on Michelangelo Buonarroti’s “The Creation of Adam” from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. There is no doubt in my mind that if the man were alive today and saw this, he would scream at me in a language I don’t understand while using cuss words appropriate to his period, then possibly call me a heretic and damn me to an eternity in hell. I thought it was funny though.

  • I give thanks to Michelangelo for his wonderful work which I added to this collage. The title of this collage sums it all up. Without the cross, there would be no connection. I give thanks for the life and sacrifice of Jesus!

  • The first of a new series called Period Faces starts today…more than likely they will probably be based on old masters, and as that is painstaking detailed work, especially working from small images on the net, they will be fewer in number than the previous collection, “Significant Faces”... / I joined the group From Masterpiece a year ago and have yet to submit, so I thought this would be a good opportunity… / Ghirlandaio was an apprentice to Michelangelo and between 1481-82, he worked in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican with Botticelli and others. The Medici family gave him only one commission and there were no other commissions from any other well known patron. With relatives and, in particular, his brother Davide (1452-1525) he ran a big and successful studio. He preferred fresco to tempera, and never attempted oil painting..Wiki…. / I painted my version in acrylic on canvas…I did not attempt a slavish imitation, but gave her a slightly more modern edge, by making her hair less structured and simplifying her jewellery and dress…I also made her a redhead, because I love red hair..See original below / / Acrylic on Canvas… See my other collection “Significant Faces” HERE

  • A detailed graphite drawing of Jesus and Mary from Michelangelo’s Pieta. .
