Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Eye See You This Pelican at Monkey Mia, Western Australia, was very different from the ones I had seen before (Australian Pelican). Have included some information regarding the Australian Pelican: The Australian Pelican Australia’s largest flying bird, the pelican has a wingspan of 3.5m and the world’s longest bill at 47cm, with an expandable pouch to hold fish. They forage day and night, alone or in groups, driving fish into the shallows and catching them with their bills. They roost on mudbanks and islands, fluttering their pouch skin to keep cool. They sometimes migrate long distances, flying in loose V formation or in line, soaring up to 3,000m high. They nest in colonies on islands and the chicks gather in groups. Their diet consists of fish and crustaceans. They inhabit fresh and saline lakes, rivers and swamps.

These are rather like broad tagliatelle and I prepared the dish like this… / Roast about 10 cherry tomatoes cut in half, in olive oil with 5 garlic cloves and a sprinkle of dried chili for twenty minutes. Halfway through the roasting, add some small whole mushrooms. I used oyster, buna-shimeji and shiro-shimeji varieties. Meanwhile bring some water to the boil, add salt and the pappardelle. After 5 minutes, add a handful of baby spinach leaves and cook for a further 6 minutes. / Serve the pasta with the roasted, tomatoes, garlic and mushrooms. / Total preparation and cooking time 25 minutes. Bon appetitto! The lighting was overcast daylight (the best diffusser) through my kitchen window. N.B. This image is not for sale as it is best cooked. Technical Details: Camera: Nikon D200 / Lens: 12-24mm f4 / Focal Length: 20mm / ISO: 250 / Exposure: 1/125 sec at f /4 / Post Processing: Photoshop CS3 © 2008 John Hooton

Hi everyone, Drum Roll Alongside my good friend Lee Martin, we have created a group to find, as voted for by eveyone in the group, *“The Greatest View in the World”. We will run 12 monthly competions, with the 12 winners going into a grand final. We will be spending the next few weeks promoting the group and getting as many people involved in it as possible. Hoping that RB will come up with a prize of some sort, but we have plenty of time to sort that out. This group is open to everyone who has that Perfect view in the RB community Will be bugging you all again at some point about the group, so I shall appologise for that in advance. So go Join, even if you dont want to submit a shot, its all about votes, and your vote will count. Let’s Have Fun Regards Philip PS Dont tell Lee that I pinched his journal

Oils on Canvas – 36×40” / another ugly, dark, personal piece for me. this was one of my first in the ochre technique as I refined the process but I kept the raw nature of it as it seemed more fitting. I will probably never sell this painting, some things are just too personal to trade for money, it was in my first exhibition and provided the basis for the exploration of body issues that frequently dominate my work.
