  • Mexican Stare
    by Charlotte Ottilo

    US$11.40–US$114.00

Mexican wolf, taken in Saguaro Desert Museum..Excellent place I highly recommend it! Almost to the point of extinction, the Mexican wolf was listed as an endangered species, the United States and Mexico created a recovery plan. To make this work, wild Mexican wolves had to be caught. / Only 5 wolves were found. Four males and one pregnant female. These five wolves represented the hope for the Mexican wolf. These wolves were caught in Durango, and Chihuahua, Mexico and transferred to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona. The first litter of Mexican wolves were born in 1978 at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. On March 29, 1998, 11 Mexican wolves were released into the wild in Arizona. The area they were released into is called the “BLUE RANGE WOLF RECOVERY AREA.” I was also told they are getting ready to release more into the wilds of southeastern Az and southwest New Mexico..

  • DELIRIUM I
    by blepharopsis

    US$3.85–US$102.60

It’s a rather abstract composition made of Mexican Red Knee Tarantula and a macaque’s skull. Now, the tarantula needs no introduction, it’s an arachnophiles’ classic. The skull on the other hand is pretty interesting – it comes from Borneo, the Kalimantan province, and it is difficult to tell how old it is. The carvings are not really typical for the Dayak people, and they bear a mark of unique craftsmanship. I guess it would make a rather spectacular large print – up to 55×82 cm at 150 DPI. The image is a composite of two (I have only one spider…), taken with Canon EOS 5D, Canon 100mm/2.8 Macro USM.

  • Sharing the Fire
    by Beatriz R. Aldridge

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Sharing the Fire – original for sale / When I was growing up, my mother used to make flour tortillas almost every day. During the hot summer days, her friends and neighbors would get together to make tortillas outside their homes. They would share the fire on this big metal burner. This painting reflects my memory of it. I also remember a small blue crooked table where they used to put the tortillas. It was probably made by somebody for kids to play with. I loved to eat the tortillas when they were hot off the burner. I would stay close by so I could have one. Now I make tortillas almost every weekend for my boys. They love them. They always come and stand behind me asking for one. And of course, Sasha the dog would love to have one too. I have changed my mother’s tortilla recipe. She used to use lard. My recipe for a dozen tortillas: / 2 cups all purpose flour / 1/2 teaspoon salt / 1/2 teaspoon baking powder / 1/4 cup extra light olive oil / 1/2 cup warm water
