  • “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” / Anais Nin Sold: 1 Framed Print (To an anonymous RB buyer)

  • / / It’s a pity to leave without a comment. Like it? Say so. Don’t like it? Say so too! With a bang, if that fits your style. I’d rather leave a negative impression (on someone) than nothing at all. DullandBoring is NOT my middle name. Neither my last (I knew you’d probably say that!) As for the first name, it’s on the front page. So, please go ahead and make my day! Thank you. / / . / Please view also my other work.. / / Thank you for visiting.

  • Woodblock Print / April 2008 / Printed on Japanese Awa paper / Size of original print: 20cms x 30 cms This is a reduction print, which was taken further than this stage, but I wasn’t as happy with the next stage as I am with this one. Only one print remains of this stage. I am planning to attempt something completely different with what is left of the plate after it was carved out further.

  • portrait of Barack Obama prismacolor marker and bic permanent marker on bristol paper 9×12 inches !!Vote 2008!!

  • What’s within is without and what we are we are not. Investigating the thin (or thick) lines that divide concrete and spiritual reality. I often wonder whether it is possible for us to traverse these boundaries, and if they do indeed exist. It’s a source of constant wonder for me. So this work is really meant to symbolize a sort of existentialist dualism. Dig? / Original work was completed in watercolor and gouache on Arches 180lb. cold-pressed cotton rag.

  • A mixed media image created with a portrait then layered with a fractal and tubed leaves.

  • Oil Pastel and Acrylic on old wood with slight digital enhancements Ophelia, puzzled by the radical transformation that had taken place overnight to this butterfly friend of hers, thought to herself, “She was in a white thread-like casing yesterday, how did all that happen so fast? There must be something magical about that case!” This is inspired by a book Hope For The Flowers by Trina Paulus. This is a cute and yet thought provoking story about two caterpillars who because they mistake the meaning of their urge to get high, get entangled climbing a horrible “caterpillar pillar”. And for two caterpillars, we all know, surrendering to the cocoon is the only way to finally fly. Hope For the Flowers is a book that celebrates HOPE. My fave lines from the book is “How does one become a butterfly?” She asked pensively. “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.” We are all meant to be as beautiful and free like the butterflies, that’s our destiny…as we free ourselves to be who we really are…and together with our innate talents,we bring hope to the world around us, bringing change inevitably around us :D / You can view and buy my other “Metamorphosis” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

  • Acrylic painting developed from analytical moment (its an upside down version of the original). This painting was developed from a series of drawings of a stool that was wrapped in paper and tied with string. Many drawings of the original stool, many drawings of the wrapped stool and lots of processing. I called this work Metamorphosis as it reminded me of the journey the caterpillar takes turning into the moth or butterfly and the many hazards it faces. The many layers and complexities of such an amazing journey. Featured Home Page Redbubble

  • “The call of death is a call of love. Death can be sweet if we answer it in the affirmative, if we accept it as one of the great eternal forms of life and transformation.” / Hermann Hesse See this image in my Díptico: / Original pic: /

  • The symbolism of this piece is quite rich, and in further researches I found out that I ended up making relations between all the representations without consciously being aware of it. The Chemistry is about inner alchemy and how the power of transformation manifests itself through Will. That’s basically my version of the ancient illustrations on alchemy in which we see a dragon-serpent “wrapping” a maiden. In my version, for artistical reasons, I decided not to draw the serpent involving the maiden’s body, but putting her closer to the background, and showing her body changing according to the colors of the environment – which are the colors of the four elements. The serpent is a representation of the unconscious forces of Will. The maiden raises from a pond (the beginning of all things, regeneration, new birth) that has been formerly muddy and still (the dark green color at the edges), and now is made clear by the power of fire (strength, courage, will, passion), or the dragon. A bunch of monarch butterflies come out the pond. The butterfly is one of the symbols of the Gemini sign (Mercury) and the classical representation of regeneration and rebirth. The maiden’s hair turns first into green grass from which 3 lotus flowers (another symbol of rebirth) arise, and then into fire. The dragon’s head show itself among the profusion of hair. The four elements are clearly present, in images and colors: Fire (dragon’s head, the top of the picture, the color red), Earth (grass and leaves, the color green), Air (butterflies, the color yellow) and Water (the pond, the color blue). It’s part of our journey as human beings to face muddy waters throughout our life. But to remain stagnant in them is our choice. We all have the inner strength to being born again, to rebuild ourselves – we just need to accept the changes and look toward the future. We are the alchemists. colored pencil on bristol board / 17×8.5

  • Stepstones / / From a series where i look at death and different aspect of death and dying. Inspired by / Tangerine Dream – Cyclone – Madrigal Meridian and by Philip Glass – Metamorphosis (Uakti) This is a composite. First image is almost untouched and created with long exposure with a flashlight. Second layer is worked in CS. Both blended and mixed in CS. For the image on the main layer I try to keep the Photoshop-work to a minimum to not loose the ethereal energy the method some times captures. This is my way to healing and selfrealization. If my work can give something to an other human being it´s many times worth the effort. Thanks for stopping by and look into my world for a minute. ...roy
