What started out as a tattoo design and then got slightly out of hand. / The top row between the Gretsch White Falcon and the Gibson Flying Vee / was going to be tattooed across my back between my shoulders. / Not anymore!! / Music, art and theatre have played large roles in my life, most / especially the guitar. The further I delved into who made an impression / on me the more complicated the image became! This began life as a photograph at the beach at sunset, and in the process of playing around with it, I went crazy and this is what it turned into. I liked it a lot better than another beach snapshot. I would have posted it ages ago, but could not find where I had stored it, until I just now ran across an old memory stick and plugged it in. Better late than never.

This is one of quite a few pictures I took of Metallica on stage last week at Nottingham arena. The guitarist you can see is Kirk Hammet and the 20 odd foot coffins moved up and down during the songs. Fantastic live band, must see.
Lars Ulrich at Nottingham Ice Arena 25th Feb 2009 Lars Ulrich (born December 26, 1963) is a Danish drummer best known as the co-founder of the American heavy metal band Metallica. He was born in Gentofte, Denmark to an upper-middle class family. A tennis prodigy in his youth, Ulrich moved to Los Angeles, California at age sixteen to pursue his training, but instead of playing tennis, he ended up as a drummer. After publishing an advertisement in a local Los Angeles newspaper called The Recycler, he met James Hetfield and formed Metallica.
Kirk Hammett at Nottingham Ice Arena 25th Feb 2009 Kirk Lee Hammett (born November 18, 1962) is the lead guitarist and a songwriter in the band Metallica and has been a member of the band since 1983. Before joining Metallica he formed and named the band Exodus. In 2003 Hammett was ranked 11th in Rolling Stone’s list – The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.[1]
