  • Medium: Acrylic, oil based ink, linen thread on canvas. / Size: 1220 mm x 1220 mm x 37 mm. / About: Acrylic and textured layers have been built up in a multiple page layout composition. This references back to a symbolic page format inspired from my ‘Book of Threads’ artist book. All is the manifested evidence of my ongoing passionate spirit for exploration, play, textures and discovery of the subliminal and generating of self-enlightenment about the human condition. For contrasting perceptions: there are several levels here / for example in relation to time, energies and colour – between the old (faded, worn down, past chapters – memories/knowledge, traces, remnants) and the new (current pages, chapters, fresh, bright, bold, strong); between the representation of spirit (gold/blue, channels/passage) and worldly matter (earthy, oxide colours, grids/boundaries). Symbolic/parallel meanings are explored through the multiple pages (time, chapters, traces), X’s (as is above, so is below, zero point, vortex, connections), multi-generational vessels (containment, alchemy, reflection, passing on of wisdom/knowledge), passage channels (transition, spirit, motion), stitched threads (attachment, fusion, parallels, spirit/matter, relationships, passage, traces), colours (emotional, spiritual/worldly, energies, alchemy) and the floating leaf (passage, transit, motion, carrier of thought/dreams). Work is from the solo exhibition Elevating the Spirit ... “where connections, relationships and unity are explored through visual language elements and symbology, between one’s inner-self (soul, spirit, life-force, essence), psyche and the outer world. Notions of passage, transition (change), duality, reflection, containment and synthesis (fusion) are contemplated and reflected upon.”

  • God of Thunder Yes, I was a KISS fan, of sorts. I STILL LOVE to hear this one, and couldn’t resist trying to bring it to life in a fractal. I hope you like it! / Fractal rendered in Oxidizer. Edited in Corel Painter Essentials 2, Photoshop Elements 3, and GIMP. / /

  • Outside my back door I have a wonderful (some would say hideous) galvanised iron fence that seems to be appearing in a lot of my projects.

  • Metal Paint Rust / Abstract Macro

  • This image was selected in September 2009 as a Featured Work in the group Abstract Macro Urban Art What people around the World are saying about “The Fury“ / “Great abstract. I really like your interpretation” Australia / “You can really see a story. Brilliant” United Kingdom / “Your work is great, but this is on a higher level. Utterly the best.” Canada / “Fabulous!” USA / “This is awesome….Great composition and shot!!!” Australia / “Wow! Fantastic! Amazing the stories that macros can reveal, and I can easily follow yours! Excellent color and shapes!” Quebec, Canada / “What you see in this image is so interesting.” USA Inspired by the recent wildfires in Southern California, in this image I see “fury” in two opponents. One being a massive wilderness fire raging with billows of smoke, ever menacing. The opponent being someone’s bravery making a stand with their own “fury” in an attempt to battle the blaze. In actuality, this abstract photograph is some rusted, aluminum siding splattered with tar that is being used as privacy fencing. Seen and captured in Tucson, Arizona’s Barrio Viejo district by JD Brummer.

  • I visited an abandoned brickworks factory in Melbourne, with fellow bubbler, Chris (pennphotography). The place was full of old rusted cogs and machines used to make the bricks. Tricky footwork and a lot of dust later, this is one of the final shots I came up with. Looking through Chris’ folio, you will find more pieces from our adventures in the abandoned factory. More to come.. Featured in Monochrome / Featured in Unwanted Abandoned & Saved Through Preservation Original file layered and texture layer added from www.deviantart.com – free use stock. Hue desaturated and lightness slightly increased. Canon 50D / 18 – 55, 58mm Edited 9pm MCN: C5U5Q-3N26U-6MYGD

  • Another shot from the abandoned brickworks factory in Brunswick, Melbourne. This was on the second level up, hidden in the back corner of the room. It grabbed my attention as it was the only real red painted object in the room. Everything else was a reddish brown rust. I was exploring there with Chris, have a gander at his folio for more shots from our adventures. Textures used from www.deviantart.com free use stock, viewfinder texture from AaronCampbell on deviantart.com. Colour tweaking and lightening to achieve a faded vintage feel. • This is a macro shot of the side of a rusted out, paint peeling, barge at Apalachicola, Florida. What I love about macro work is the color that emerges with these very close shots. I did enhance the saturation a little in the camera before shooting.
