The rear of a building at dusk in Melbourne’s south-east.
This is the front of a new building. / I found the punched metal picture, of pioneer homes, / (done like newspaper photos) so interesting, I hope you do to. It fascinated me as I wondered what technology was used to create it. Taken with my pocket digital camera (Sony Cybershot 4.1)
If you look closely, you should be able to see a face in 3d looking (from your perspective) to the bottom left. It appears metallic, but the metal strands are weak and brittle due to their being so thin, symbolizing how a initially strong and almost frightening appearance often hides a more fragile self on closer inspection. I wanted to work with objects and natural lighting. / This is the inside of a cup that looks like silver inside. / I called it Hg because its the short form for Mercury. / Thanks! :) /

Abandoned silver mill, Cherry Creek, NV Featured on Beige Is Death / (2009.APR.15) / (2008.APR.30) It should be noted that most of the destruction on and around this site has been the work of (relatively) recent vandals; not the mining operation itself. ** / Canon 350D EOS / Canon 18/55mm JASC Paint Shop Pro x7 / Corel PhotoImpact x3
Exchequer Mine entrance Originally staked in the 1880’s, the Exchequer was among the largest producers of silver and tungsten in the region. The tunnel and shaft were excavated primarily with dynamite, picks, and shovels. Ore was first transported by mule train wagons, and later in large dumptrucks. The pipes were devised to pump out copious amounts of water inside the main shaft. Recent (1990’s) efforts to resume operations have not proven successful. Small mines such as this are handicapped by expensive government regulations, such as environmental impact studies. RedBubble Album: Great Prospects: Mines and Mills
