Come one, come all, I’m having my first solo exhibition, opening night August 1st. I’m going to be there on opening night, so if you want to meet the crazy old lady with the camera, feel free to come up and say gidday. I’ve been madly processing work so that I’ve hopefully got enough to put up on the walls, and I’m having the majority of it printed on Kodak Endura metallic paper. There’ll be something for everyone, and prices won’t be very high at all….seriously! Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments and best wishes!! August 1 – 14 / Brunswick St Gallery / 322 Brunswick St, Fitzroy 3065 / ph 0419 390 478 / Hours: Wed-Thur 12 – 4 pm, Friday – Sunday 11am – 6pm

When we rocked up in Jaisalmar in between these great walls the first thing I saw was this little girl ..balancing..on this rope..wauw i thought how amazing…i watched her many times, she had to earn the family money, mum and dad and little baby where there to collect the money. / I spoke to the father, he told me when he was small he used to do this for many many years, now it was his daughters turn…..she was a lovely child,,but i did feel sad too…. This work was a composition derived from various drawings with added elements. The center of the image is one of my original photographs, which was cut and glued onto the canvas board. The smaller girl figure is expanding around the photo, and imposed within the larger figure of the boy. The crown is actually a found object element, that was used conceptually and expressively in more ways than one. There is such an array of symbolism and metaphorical information related in this overall composition, that I wish to have this open for future interpretations from viewers. There are multiple personal stories expressed within a universal context, and this work is attempting to be highly illustrative of all human growth. Please feel free to critique or question this piece as a whole, or in a more centralized focus of particular features. The original dimensions of the work are 28in. X 22in. It was started about a year ago, and was recently finished in 2008.

This addiction is so bad – should be doing other things, but an idea popped in my head, and I have dropped all in order to get this idea out of my head, and onto the screen. This image was originally taken by my husband, and I’ve photshopped it to within an inch of it’s life. It’s actually an old homestead located in western sydney and it now runs as a cafe – I hear it’s quite good. It’s now been transformed into the Nightmare Cafe, opens only during the full moon, and all the ghouls from near and far book out the cafe and party into the small hours of the night. Their horse drawn carriages echo through the streets in the early hours as they make their weary way home. The citron tarts served there, I believe, are the talk of ghoul-town. Enjoy, or not…

This work is a color photograph still that was created from a broken porcelain doll head, accented with red paint, and set atop a piece of metal piping. A candle was inserted into the head to illuminate the eye openings and the cracked forehead, evoking a more mysterious, emotional result. To me it conveys the powerful struggle of the human condition and the search for personal enlightenment and universal betterment. I would like to use this image as a book cover or album jacket cover. It was created in 2008.
