This took me much longer than I had hoped. I have final in 2 weeks and instead of studying I’m doing fucking art because I can’t control my addiction >;) Before I indulge with my thoughts on this, note that all of my facts are not straight and that this is merely coming from an emotional outlet. Here in Ohio, gas has dropped well below to the 1.79 price range. Still kind of high from only 5 years ago but compared to where we were at 2 months ago, I’m not complaining. What bothers me is that the “higher ups” in the oil industry would say that they have to raise prices to match the barrel of gas price and still make profit. Yet as some know, their profits are in the billions from the past 3 years. It seems like if the sky looked a little less blue and more cloudy that the gas prices would rise yet we are told that prices aren’t effected at the pumps until 6 weeks later. Seems a bit off to me. So I imagine what these “king’s of oil” look like and how they feed off of the blackness that plagues our existance. Like blood, oil courses through their veins, oozing from every orifice and pore of their body. It allows them the privelige of life, while the rest of us suffer. But what will happen when we drain our planet of it’s oil? Will it wither away as the black gold king’s surely will? and we will be left to clean up the mess. BTW – In case you didn’t know…this shit is copyrighted, and so help me god if I find it stolen, I will rape your eye sockets….legally of course ;)

my pencil (on bristol board) rendition of Marco Hietala, bass guitar/vocals of Nightwish he is awesome at the guitar, but his voice is so freaking awesome… click here to watch him now I have a huge respect for all you portrait artists, this was my third attempt at drawing him and lets just say it was super difficult for me to even get this close haha : ) Let me know what you think! “Did you ever hear what I told you? / Did you ever read what I wrote you? / Did you ever listen to what we played? / Did you ever let in what the world said? / Did we get this far just to feel your hate? / Did we play to become only pawns in the game? / How blind can you be, don’t you see?” / You chose the long road, but we’ll be waiting” Bye bye, beautiful…” Bye Bye Beautiful by Nightwish

Just back from a three days festival in Oslo where I took this. I bought a new Canon EF-S 17-55mm, 2.8 IS USM lens, and had good use for the IS and the wide angle here. An excellent lens, by the way!

  • This was taken at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. This is probably the most different photo I have submitted in a long time. I spend most of my photographing time in the mountains 300 miles from my home. I live less than an hour from L.A. but I rarely venture there. There was an art festival going on and it sounded fun so I went.

  • My favorite band Avenged Sevenfold at the very end of their set. / They were the headlining band at How the Edge Stole Christmas – Night 2 on December 15, 2007. / Avenged Sevenfold is a metal/hard rock band (for those who don’t know) and you can get think through what they’re wearing, and the obvious international “rock on” hand / One of their best songs, Unholy Confessions, was the song they ended with. / At the end of the song, during the last main riff (which is when your blood is pumping, adrenaline rushing through your body, VERY intense part of the song) smoke starts flowing and on a big down beat at the peak of intesity confetti shot out and everyone went insane / luckily I was able to get that shot after I nearly passed out from screaming along with the song and going total ape sh*t when the confetti went off =]

  • we cast our roots deep / the grid extends its reach / things don’t look good / as we feel the ground wake / nothing will change / flames will walk the earth / and nothing will change things dont look good – genghis tron This is a slight departure from my usual travel photography… so my apologies to those watchers who keep expecting that sort of work.. I’ll be back to travel shots soon.. I’m just in a bit of a different head-space right now..
