Water Tiger 1962 The Water Tiger is a soothing and tranquil breed. Unlike most Tigers they have the ability to consider feelings and ideas from other people. This empathy makes them quite sensible and understanding. Fire Tigers are also born with a great intuitive power. They have excellent judgment and make accurate assessments of most situations. This Tiger is a bit indecisive, compared to other cats. It stems from their habit of watching and waiting before leaping. Water Tigers need to guard against excessive sleeping or daydreaming. This passive behavior will prohibit them from achieving the goals they initially set out to accomplish. No doubt about it Tigers are incredibly sexy people, beautiful and sensually romantic. Creative and spontaneous lovers they never lose their creative spark or flare for an evening of passion. Their partner is always exposed to a hint of danger and the curiosity of the unknown. A Tiger once committed will want to dominate and lead you. This natural nurturing mechanism if left unchecked will lead to complete control. This is one controlling and negative effect a Tiger can have on their partner, as opposed to the myriad of positive elements they bring to a relationship, trust, passion, politeness and spontaneity to name only a few. Tigers love excitement and require a partner who can keep up with all they want to see and do. The potential partner for a Tiger must be able to stand the random mood swings, the ups and downs, the good with the bad. Metal signs will collect Water; Water Signs will nourish Wood signs and quench Fire Signs. Water signs will be absorbed by Earth signs. With just these few simple concepts the Water Sheep can seek the partner of their greatest compatibility In matters of love Tigers fare best with the Horse, Dog and Pig.. Avoid the Monkey, Snake and Ox.. In short marry a Metal Horse and avoid the Fire Ox. To the Chinese the Tiger is said to be lucky, vivid, lively and engaging. Renowned for their incredible bravery and willingness to engage in battle it is often wondered if a Tiger is so brave because he is so lucky. It is said that having a Tiger in the house is the very best protection against the evils of fire and burglary. The Year of the Tiger is the third in the Chinese astrological cycle following the Year of the Ox and recurs every twelfth year. Though the starting day of the year may vary the majority of people born in the years 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986 and 1998 are Tigers Tigers do not find worth in power or money. Completely honest about what they feel they expect the same of you. They seek approval from peers and family. Because of their charming personalities Tigers are usually well liked. Failing at a given task or being unproductive in personal or professional life can cause a Tiger to experience a depression. Even more damaging is criticism from loved ones. Lke all felines, Tigers land on their feet, ready for their next act in life, pursuing it with unyielding energy and hunting to perfection. Tigers are relentlessly competitive – they cannot pass up a challenge, particularly if honor is at stake, or if protecting those they love. Tigers are unpredictable and it is fatal to underestimate their reactions. Even when appearing calm they may pounce without a moment’s warning. Always natural leaders, they have a strong sense of their own dignity, and when finding themselves members of the rank and file they can be stubborn and obstinate. In positions of power they are difficult though stimulating bosses. Tigers are intelligent, alert, and farsighted. Formidable enemies they are good strategists and tacticians always with a hidden agenda. Their only apparent weakness is they can risk their luck too often, and have great difficulty keeping their restless nature under control. More often than not their tactics pay off in life. The Chinese name for the Tiger is HU, the sign of courage. February is the month of the Tiger and as such the Western astrological counterpart is Aquarius. Tigers are known for courage, vehemence, self-Reliance, friendliness, hopefulness and resilience. Their weakness is vanity and a disregard for others.

Metal straps hold planks of wood together to form the rudder of a boat. Both the straps and the wood show signs of age and decay. The image has been rotated 90 degrees cloclwise. 453 Views as at 15/11/09.

There are plenty more doors like this in old Kazimierz, Cracow, Poland. From the photographer’s view, I hope they don’t get the attention or they wouldn’t look the same!

It is virtually the same emulsion found on ordinary photographic paper, but in a liquid form and can allow the emulsion to be coated on a wide range of surfaces. / Here I have applied the liquid light using a brush to scrap metal and once it was dried exposed it with the enlarger. It was then developed, fixed and washed similar to any photographic paper. / The final piece of scrap metal was then stuck onto painted pine to be displayed. / The image you see before you is then a digital photograph of the displayed piece. She rests among the mosses / A shrine of wood and wishes / In this quiet sunlit forest / She is peaceful, not forgotten. / Zazzle / DeviantART / - / a dryad-treestump maiden, who twisted into place, / my pencilling too messy, so wood flowed round her face. / And grasses grew around her, and roots twisted round her wrist, / and from the slender sapling behind her, rose a girl of leaves and mist. I rather liked the concept and the curvy way she posed, / so as soon as the tablet was mine again, a sketch on the screen arose… / It wasn’t quite abstract or anime, nor a gentle blushing bride / and so out of wood I carved her and let the paint decide, And the leaves spread out around her, as I sprinkled and I spun / And brown and green around her, the trees grew one by one. / The steps I saw quite clearly, but the details made me yawn / So I looked up ruins and flung dabs, until perspective was born. And moss and sunlight gathered and layers flowed and split / And the hours flew silently by, until I was forced to quit. / But the quiet woodland waited, and the headless idol watched / Until I woke this morning and added bark metallic and notched… And the trees sprang up behind, and the flowers crept over the steps / And the sun lanced through the trees and everywhere shadows crept… / Roses of orange and yellow were added on a whim / and in the offering bowl lies a lily blurred and dim. ‘Til at last I could not deny her, she had to have a head, / Although I tried to distract her by painting her fingers instead. / The shiny coins didn’t sway her, and empty was this wood, / until I shaped her a face and swept over her a hood. Then sprouted a few last flowers, and a twisting thorny vine / Along the lowest terrace, its thorns as dark as wine / But I’ve worked on this seven full hours and new ideas have grown, / So posting and moving on now, before my muse has flown.

Found this old moss covered VW Bug amongst the woods in rural Pennsylvania. It looks like it has been resting here for years, yet it still is smiling. When viewed in Large, it almost has a 3-D effect like Kevin pointed out. Herman is in this shot as well …..

Taken at the Apprentice House at Quarry Bank Mill Cheshire This lovely collection of metal tubs, mangles just caught my eye. They sat just in a out house in the coutyard of the Apprentice house at the back of the kitchen. The Apprentice house was where the children that worked in the Cottom mill lived and where cared for. How long would my washing pile take to do today in those tubs and then wrung out with the mangle, I dread to think, a time before twin tubs and now the latest high tech washing machines we have today. Nikon D90 and 18-105vr Nikor Lens Focal length 18mm / F/. 6.3 / Exposure 1/160 sec and -1 step / ISO 1600 Very grey day and drizzle, poor light, Hand held and setting P / Processed in Nikon Efex Pro 3 in tonal contrast to bring out the metal detail more.

Best on Full Size This little copper kettle was on an ancient wood stove, located in one of the log cabins at Old Bedford Village in Bedford, PA. One of the interesting things about this wonderful village is the buildings and accessories are authentic to their time periods. It is my understanding that the homes and barns and churches are not reproductions, but are actual, once-working structures that have been moved to Old Bedford Village . Image taken wih the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Shutter speed 1/10, aperture f/13.0, exp. -.33, iso 1000. No flash, natural light. Post processing included the addition of three textures in Photoshop, a light Orton technique and dodging and burning.
