I uploaded this previously but wasn’t really happy with it. Played with it some more, added some colour and a slogan, changed it’s title and this is the result. The male image is from CORDELIA. Hope you like it. ps – does anyone know if this could get me in trouble from the BIG M. It’s all meant as a satirical comment on society – nothing more.

This lovely stained glass window was taken inside a very old church in Houston. It depicts the Fifth Joyful Mystery of the Rosary, the Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple. After searching for three days for their lost son, Mary and Joseph found 12 year old Jesus in the Temple speaking with the elders, the learned men of the law who were astounded with his knowledge and wisdom.

When I first saw this stained glass window in a very old Catholic church in Houston, Texas, I was deeply touched by it. I had never seen Jesus depicted as a priest giving Holy Communion. I have a special devotion to the Eucharistic Christ (as explained in John 6) and to his body and blood which he offers us at daily Mass and through which he sustains us on our earthly journey, just as he offered manna to the Israelites and sustained them as they journeyed through the desert for 40 years in search of the Promised Land.

After his covert dictatorship as British PM had ended in a bodycount to rival Hitler’s – Tony Blair sought to win back the people with his religious vision,. As a Prme Minister who excelled in messianic speeches and then becoming head of the World faith group Tony had a good start in his vision of world peace, he was very well received considering his deadly past but soon he was abusing his powers again, in 2010 he challenged pope Benedict for the papacy in a live mud-wrestling extravaganza in Vatican square which he lost, he then had a bitter law-suit against Tom Cruise who refused to give up his Scientology crown. Tony tried again and again to spread his good news, going on a televised peace mission to the far-east where he started proclaiming love and equality but the old right-wing demons kept taking over, with UN support he attempted to overthrow Buddhism, appearing drunk at a press conference he totally lost it, calling the Buddha ‘ a fat benefit-cheat’ and ‘ a tree-loving home-wrecker’ angry monks chased Tony from the continent and into obscurity. / Stripped of his faith foundation title and excommunicated from the church Tony slipped into a deep depression, trying to make ends meet by selling CD’s of his old speeches from the back of a van – he was on the brink of a total nervous breakdown. / Then in 2012 with end-time fever gripping the globe, Tony found his opportunity for public adulation in Simon Cowells ‘Messiah factor’, he beat off budding hopefuls from every nation. Wowing the world in the semi-final by parting the English Channel, the huge walls of water then crashed down upon the 50,000 immigrants who ran across the sea bed from France. The bloodthirsty masses went wild for Tony’s sweeping immigration solution and voted him into the final. The final was staged in Jerusalem in a huge fibre-glass and polystyrene copy of Solomons Temple, by then Tony had amassed a huge following of ‘Blairites’ and the world waited to see his final act, it was indeed his final act. / Tony took six hours to pass away but never failed to wow the crowds by introducing the top music acts of the day, even telling political anecdotes between bouts of unconsciousness. His old pal George was by his side and a stream of celebrities all came to pay homage with gifts from eager sponsors, what a day that was. Tony in his last moments was heard whimpering ‘they love me George, they love me’ before giving up the ghost screaming ‘ I am your God’, he had promised a ressurection as New Tony but half-an-hour later he was forgotten in a multimedia whirlwind of subliminal advertising and pounding music, within the hour Elton John released a tribute single called ‘candle in Iraq, it topped the midnight chart-rundown and then sunk as quickly back into a bottomless sea of new music.

A 3-dimensional being, created a 2-dimensional world, just like an artist does on paper, but this particular artist had the power to give life to his creation. On the living flatness he drew little flat-people to experience his creation, but the little flat-people became little flat-gods in their little flat-minds, the mightiest reached out to the greatest lengths and breadths, but had no depth, nor could they realise the height of their creator, a creator they could not see, yet he saw all of them at once. / One day the creator reached down and touched the flatness with his finger, but the flat-people perceiving only 2 dimensions saw a circle. It was an extraordinary flat-world event nonetheless, for the flat-people had seen God – and God was a circle. Now somewhere else, the creator touched the flatness with three-fingers – so those people proclaimed God was 3 circles. / So mighty flat-religions sprung up, both declaring they knew God, both dragging millions of flat-people under flat symbols, there was so much killing and hatred between the factions in the name of God. Both of course were unaware that they had merely seen the slightest aspect of a being that could roll their sorry world into a ball and toss it over his shoulder without blinking an eye. . / But in his mercy the creator instructed and flattened a 3-dimensional being into the 2-dimensional world, to show the people who God was, and set them free from the fragile mortality of their flat-world. He walked and talked in the flatness, patiently teaching the flat-people in 2-dimensional symbology – urging them simply to believe in him. The flat-messiah then returned to his 3-dimensional home, and behind him he trailed a pathway for believers, a pathway that stretches from flat-world into a whole new dimension..

I’ve coupled an American robin with a European legend about the robin; I think it makes for a nice marriage. And a very good message for Lent and Easter, too! Bearing His cross, while Christ passed forth forlorn, / His God-like forehead by the mock crown torn, / A little bird took from that crown one thorn / To soothe the dear Redeemer’s throbbing head. / That bird did what she could; His blood, ‘tis said, / Down dropping, dyed her tender bosom red; / Since then no wanton boy disturbs her nest; / Weasel nor wild cat will her young molest; / All sacred deem the bird of ruddy breast.
