This one is meant to act as a sort of counterpoint to Pristine. I tried to use a similar theme but take it in a slightly different direction. Personally, I like this one better. My husband likes Pristine better, oddly. :P

There are several images I’m posting on RedBubble of a scroll I made in the year 2000. It is a diary or journal, written in my invented hieroglyphic language called Tapissary, and illustrated in ink on rice paper. The rice paper sheets were then adhered to a linen backing and sewn into the long scroll. Many of the drawings carry a marine theme. I made all sorts of creatures who live below the waves. Merpeople, musician fish, sea horses, and even mertrees… trees that sprout kelp leaves and bloom fish. I played with the ideas that my mercreatures become language, or are wrapped within it. This merman is a drawing from a statue at the museum. I altered him into a marine environment, and bound his ankles in fin.
