  • The cake says it all. I was most impressed with this cake at a recent wedding that I shot, however, the groom did not live up to these expectations!

  • Photo was taken by my Dad (But it’s placed here with permission!)

  • Taken at Black Rock late in the day. Shortly after the rain came. This is a HDR image.

  • A female Elephant seal Mirounga angustirostris warding off intruders / Image was taken at the Elephant Seal park and Reserve in San Simeon CA Fuji S2 pro / 80-200 /2.8 @ 200 / Image taken 8 feet away, on ground level E- is for Elephant Seal Featured: National Parks of the World group, August 2009 50% of all proceeds from the sale of this image and the ones below will be donated to the Marine Conservation Organization Consider my other images of Elephant Seals /

  • Why yes, this would make a great Valentines Day card. Thanks for asking!

  • It’s not often you get this close to such a magnificent animal. One of my most memorable shoots.

  • Model: Art

  • Self portrait / Photo-manipulation

  • A macro shot (80-200 and extension tube) of a crocus flower with a small metal candle holder (the face), shot early in the morning, when shadows from nearby shrubs looked interesting. I tried to get just the stamens in focus and the shadow on the left to look like a figure with a distended belly. I attempted to make the whole effect slightly menacing – a contrast between innocence and evil. Velvia, Nikon F4, scan.

  • Before I ‘went bush’ I lived in a secure apartment in one of the worst areas of Adelaide. To my dismay I learned that elderley and crippled blind men were easy targets for the gangs that roam the streets after dark; and even more alarmingly during the day. This painting is how I began to see my fellow inhabitants of the City, both real and in my Nightmares. Call me a cowardly custard if you will, and paranoid, but I opted out, and I can now go to bed without barring my doors, or living in fear ( apart from the denizens of my dreams ). I’m afraid the more genteel times I grew up in are no more, and it’s a shame. This painting is 70 cm x 100 cm on primed board, and was painted with Acrylics.

  • A close up portrait of a robber crab….....also known as a coconut crab as they crack and eat coconuts! These are my favourite creatures on the planet! I’m fascinated by all the separate plates which join together to make up a whole crab! They are basically evolved hermit crabs in that they do not carry shells to protect their abdomen. They are very imposing, massive creatures with a scientific name of Birgus Latro and they can be blue or red in colour! Their leg span can reach around 70cm! The biggest i’ve seen had a body size 1 foot square and i was even lucky enough to see 20 in one small area feasting on a fallen coconut tree! Despite their size and somewhat menacing appearance, they are gentle and placid creatures who back away when threatened. Found on Christmas Island, Indian Ocean Territories, Australia. Taken on Canon 5D at f5.6, 1/40th sec, ISO 800, 400mm of 100-400mm lens. As is.

  • The last of these Miami Rockscapes, hot at north Burleigh Beach just before a storm, these are the rocks at Miami park, this was a great sky to work with, loads of drama. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm nikkor lens Other work in this series: / South East Passage / Miami Balance / Ready to Rumble / Dawn light from the east

  • Recently there’s been a spate of crocodile attacks here in Australia. / / Just last weekend, 11 year old Birony Goodsell was dragged underwater by one and never resurfaced. / / If feel deeply sorry for her and even worse for her family but for crying out loud, she was swiming in our most dangerous state, in a place called Black Jungle Swamp. / / That’s just asking for it. / / So now authorities are setting traps to catch and kill these so called ‘menacing’ crocodiles. / / Fair enough but I think it’s important for all of us to remember that we don’t own this planet. We share it with millions of other species and we have to learn and teach our children to respect them and their rights. / / I’m doing this shirt to present the lighter side of these primordial creatures and point out that they aren’t menacing. They’re just hungry. / / /

  • Black Ink and a lot of patience on a pissed-off day. This tree has been here as long as myself. / Stupid fingers I have, I deleted it last week, only able to upload it again today. / I think he still looks superb, even better than the day he was brought into life.

  • Les Fosses – Belgique – Ardennes

  • This storm occurred 21/12/06 approx 60km north of Adelaide tracking SE from the northern gulf region, and i intercepted near a town called Dublin, just along the Port Wakefield Hwy. The Bureau of Meteorology labelled this dangerous storm and developed into a defined squall line. The image is comprised of 9 exposures stitched together, and was taken briefly before i was pelted with mud, wheat husks and probably sheep poo. I witnessed imbedded gustnadoes on the leading edge, severe wind gusts i would estimate over 120km/h, 2cm hail and lightning every second. The storm weakened as it progressed to the northern suburbs as i pushed on further north, however the second line wasn’t as fruitful.

  • After 2 days of humid northerlies from QLD, Victoria had some thundery rain throughout most districts associated with pre-frontal troughs. On the 3rd day a vigorous front approached from the SW in the morning, with a squall warning issued for the Melbourne area. The cold air wedged itself under the warm moist air that was hanging around, causing a spectacular shelf cloud on the leading edge of the front. Strong winds were observed with the passage, some planes at the Avalon air show were flipped over and widespread tree and building damage in southern districts.

  • Annecy, France Holga CFN

  • Guns are ubiquitous in Ethiopia’s Omo Valley. AK-47’s are so common that they’re almost part of the traditional dress – like jewelry. These Karo men, high above the Omo River, are probably not as dangerous as they look. I’ve been told that they only shoot eachother.

  • Title drawn from the 1979 horror movie by Fred Walton ” When a Stranger Calls” High school student Jill Johnson is traumatized over an evening of babysitting by a caller who repeatedly asks, “Have you checked the children lately?” After notifying the police, Jill is told that the calls are coming from inside the house Canon 50D / 1/90th sec f/2.8<br />70-200 f/2.8L 98mm / ISO 400 / RBH Hospital, Herston, Brisbane, Qld.
