  • This is a print of the original piece entitled “I will wait for you here” / It was hand drawn with ink and digitally altered with color and texture. The background is old fabric that was scanned and copied into the print. I absolutely adore this piece. It shoots me right back to fifth grade when my best friend had her dad build us a swing in the woods. I used to swing for hours looking up at the birds…and wait. Im not sure what I was waiting for back then…but it didnt matter, I was happiest there. This print is available for purchase as cards that you can mail to someone you adore (Or more likely, keep for yourself and frame!) and a few prints. • Mark, an American soldier, gave his life for his fellow countrymen in the war in Iraq. The only one of his unit to survive the initial blast, he battled for life as he was flown back to the United States for medical care. His family flocked to his side and surrounded him with love in his final hours. Not long after his arrival in America, he died on home soil in the arms of his loved ones. His mother Kim, my husband’s first cousin, wrote this poem, “Is it you?” as she struggled with grief and loneliness for her young son. She asked me if I had a dragonfly photo to accompany her poem which relates the tale of the dragonflies that seem to hover near her in a show of consolation. This image is our collaboration, our joint effort, in memory of Mark Graham who defended the cause of freedom with steadfast determination and a valiant heart. May he rest in peace and may the angels surround him and his family now and forever. (100% of proceeds from sales will go to the Mark W. Graham Foundation; see another image, “Is it you?” in this portfolio if you’d like a green dragonfly. It will print better in the card size). Taken from the Mark W. Graham Foundation website, here is additional information about the foundation to which all funds from the sales of these images will be donated: “The Mark W. Graham Foundation is a non-profit organization which provides support for young people of character and military families in crisis. It honors the legacy of Mark Graham, a fallen soldier whose strength of character and gift of service to his country are an inspiration to all who knew him. Mark was a Lafayette, La., native and his death opened the community’s eyes to the reality of war and the sacrifice soldiers make in their fight to keep our country free. He was married to Stephanie for a little more than a year when he died. Mark was 22 years old.”

  • As a child I have fond memories of eating Jelly Babies when I lived in England. I later found out that they were originally known as Peace Babies. Jelly Babies were launched 75 Years ago by Bassett’s – one of Britain’s oldest sweets manufacturers – to celebrate the end of the first world war. Peace Babies were popular between the wars, but production ceased in the Second World War because of a shortage of raw materials. They came back in 1953, renamed Jelly Babies. I thought I’ll paint some of the famous Bertie Basset’s liquorice allsorts too,,,I use to love the black jelly ones with thousands and thousands on them. Oh the memories of childhood :)

  • So named because this is my violin and my son’s first violin. It tugs on my heart whenever I look at it. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / Taken with a Kodak DX6490 in manual mode. / F-stop, 4 / Shutter speed, 4 / Indirect lighting / Colour: sepia Post processing: / lightened the exposure to bring out the shadow ( a dear friend actually did that. This was a few months ago with my old camera, and less experience) I took 105 shots before I got the one I wanted, first going outside in colour, coming in, experimenting with the light. Learned a lot!

  • Yiddie Kitty © Vicki Ferrari / This is Yiddie when he was a little baby, back in 1991. His ears were huge but he grew into them, and his nose grew broader as well! He was rescued by a friend from a coal mine at Collinsville, North Queensland and he was with me until 1999 when he had to be put down because of kidney disease. That was a very sad time but the joys that I experienced from him being in my life outweighed the grief of his leaving – and he is still in my heart and always will be, and I still miss him! My gorgeous monster! This is a scan from the 8X12 print in one of my early portfolios. Only basic editing done – it is as it is. Thanks for sharing Yiddie with me! Framed Print /

  • Fractal art. There are some memories that you will cherish forever. There are some memories you wish you could just forget. Then there are those that will slowly fade away into the echoes of time. / © Dave Moilanen

  • Memory / All alone in the moonlight / I can smile at the old days / I was beautiful then / I remember the time I knew what happiness was / Let the memory live again Memory How cute is this kitty I snapped a photo of today? He was just too adorable for words…he looks like he’s singing, so I had to plonk him into one of my creations, of course…then I thought of that song from the musical “Cats.” Heheh…(It’s snowing here again tonight by the way…)

  • A loverly little poem by an unknown author. I have added it to a photoshopped pic of my Newman…so fitting… Newman was a staffy x red heeler. I lost him earlier this month (october 2009) God’s dog poem When God had made the Earth / and the sky, the flowers and the trees, / He then made all the animals / and all the birds and bees. / / And when his work was finished, / not one was quite the same. / He said,’I’ll walk this earth of / mine and give each one a name.’ And so he travelled land and / sea and everywhere he went, / One little creature followed him / Until its strength was spent. When all was named upon the / earth and in the sky and sea, / This little creature said,’Dear / Lord, there’s not one left for me.’ The father smiled and softly / said,’I’ve left you to the end, / I’ve turned my own name back / To front and called you ‘dog’, / my friend.’ / (author unknown) 3 sales Nov 2, 2009-proceeds to the RSPCA Ballarat
