  • Completed in 2004, age 17 This is a slightly cropped version of the original, due to the limits of my camera. My original signature got cropped out so I had to insert a new one in photoshop; in the original it is not actually located there. Original size: (40” x 30”) The two subjects are posed in similar positions, each having a dark, circular central focus., Both images have lines above and surrounding the centres, which draw attention towards the centres. The vertical composition help strenghten the feeling of height given by the vertical lines. Both subjects are organic, however one, the eye, has straight lines and geometrical shapes, while the rose has curvy lines and organic shapes. In the eye, the centre is literally dark, while in the flower the darkness is created by shadows. • The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. How many men were lost at sea and how many made it home with wild stories of his adventure aboard the Icelandic Harvester. / / Shot with a Canon 400D and processed in Lightroom 2. / / NautilusBlue / / nominated this image to be showcased in the group Pay It Forward and this is what she had to say… / / Ice Breaker / by Kevin Kroeker / I think it is an outstanding image with great composition ( great leading lines) with lots of drama and the colours are amazing . It shows us the harshness of the climate. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

  • Everytime I was washing the dishes in front of my window I kept looking at that fantastic scene .The snow had covered all the roof and at the same time my window ,it was completely dark ,until the snow began to melt .What a sight but I had to remove the icy snow with my hand and push inch by inch the window to open enough so I could go through the small window and take some shot .You should have seen me ,all wet and very happy of my idea. / I called it «communion» because ,at first the two icesticks were just one and melted until they got separated but it looks like they are reaching to get together again. The drop is the communion between them,a« metaphore» but for me it was magical. It’s like the time is suspended…..an untouched pic… / / /

  • Canon 400D / Iceberg season is offically upon us for another year. This was the first Iceberg of the season for me. It was a very foggy and drizzly day, but these bergs were well worth venturing out in the weather. / / From the Northern tip of Labrador down to the eastern coast of Newfoundland, the sea that pounds and caresses these shores is nicknamed Iceberg Alley. Bergs born 10,000 years ago on the Greenland icecap dance along the coast and far out to sea, propelled unpredictably by wind and tide, tumbling, twirling, and breaking into fantastic shapes before melting in the warm waters of the gulf stream. / / An iceberg’s journey down Iceberg Alley begins once it breaks off from the edges of Greenland’s glaciers. Dropping into the ocean, it is gripped by the Labrador Current and carried through the dark ocean along the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador. In the past, during certain times of the year, the alley has been thick with the largest and most beautiful icebergs found anywhere in the world. They glide majestically along, alone or in groups, obscuring the horizon with their tall, jagged silhouettes. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / More in this series / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography

  • A gentle piece by Giclee Artist Skye Ryan-Evans. This scene of a lone Polar Bear silently gliding through Arctic waters while an Aurora Borelis shimmers behind him, is serene and unforgettable!
