This is an image of the water feature at Southbank looking back across the Yarra towards Melbourne. While it is a departure from my normal landscapes I took this as it reminded me of the work of one of my favourite authors William Gibson. William Gibson started as a sci-fi writer, though now he would be more likely described as a near future, he writes about the possibilities that exist in the near future. This image reminded me of a certain passage of his describing the internet. “Line of light ranged in the nonspace of the mind, clusters and constellations of data, Like city lights, receding.” – William Gibson.

On Saturday 18 October, the lower end of St Kilda Rd experienced an electrical blackout (though there was no storm) between 11.30pm and 12.30am … so I figured I could get some shots from my balcony; afterall, it’s not often that St Kilda Rd is in blackness! I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen stars while living here! Other shots from this event (move mouse over image for links) —
