I thought it was time to add some thoughts to my journal after being a member for such a short period of time and experiencing so many wonderful things red bubble has to offer. It is so enjoyable searching the plethora of people’s works, not just photography, although this is my main interest in joining the Red Bubble community in the beginning. Monday was Jam night at my friend Tony’s jazz club the Paris Cat in Melbourne. Here are some of my shots of the incredible musicians at work Paris Cat Jam Night It was definately the hardest show I’ve had to shoot so far. It was much, much darker than I have shot before, as well as fighting over saturation from red lights… my new greatest enemy. I think the shots turned out well, and I’ll get some more practice there – I can see myself becoming a regular there on Monday nights… free entry, and 2 hours of incredible music – can’t go wrong

Good morning beautiful bubblers! / A special meet up has been planned in Melbourne for Sunday 26th April, 2009. / / Where – The Astor Theatre in St. Kilda (Click here for location) / Time – 10:00am till 12:00pm (2hrs) / / Unfortunately we are limited in time and there is also a cost for the hire of the venue so… / Participation numbers will be limited to 30. / That will enable the cost to be only $22 each. / ...and if you are great at mathematics you will find that it does cost $660 to hire the venue for two hours with the theatre lights on. / / There will be a plan put into action on the day as the theatre section of the building would be too crowded with 30 artists / models climbing over each other for space so, we will be dividing time in the Theatre itself into two groups of 15 and one hour of “creative” time for each group. / / IMPORTANT / If you wish to bring one muse / model that is cool but… if you’re thinking of bringing 2 or more they should also be paying the $22 so they can be added to the official numbers… / I’m just trying to avoid having 30 paid up photographers with 90 models running around… The Astor Theatre will get very small very quickly. / So, just try to do the right thing and get multiple models to pay $22, that way we keep numbers at a manageable level and everyone has enough creative space to work in. / / Please Bubblemail me with your interest and I’ll pass on payment information. / The final 30 participants will be listed here / I look forward to seeing you all!! :D ____________ / / Have you ever wanted to be an extra on a film set??? / Well this rare and fun opportunity exists in Melbourne on Monday evening, 23rd March. / Where? As an illustration of the reach of RedBubble and the oppurtunities this community can provide (and as a bit of self promotion at the same time as the title of this journal suggests) - I was recently contacted by a UK based boutique design agency Windfall Design who are setting up a second studio here in Melbourne. In conjunction with the establishment of the new studio they launched a new website and wanted to use one of my images Yarra River by Night to represent Melbourne on the sites contact pages which we were able to put in place. Windfall Designs found me and my image through RedBubble which was fantastic.

The opening night is on the 9th of September starting at 6pm, otherwise, if you can’t make it on this night, the photos will be up for a month, so you’ll have some time to have a gawk whilst eatin a parma, or munchin on the nachos or guzzling beer. The ABC project starts tonight, 7.30pm on Federation Square, Melbourne and one of my pictures is part of that. The ABC put up a low resolution version of the slideshow shown every night from 7.30-8pm during September 2009 here The images come from ABC`s Pool and 360 City Nights project, and are credited within the slideshow. There is no sound in the slideshow as sound doesn’t work effectively in the noisy environment that is Federation Square. The 13 minute length also reflects the outcome, and at Fed Square it will be looped every night twice. My image “All cats are grey in the dark” is shown at 1:54 in the slideshow! You can also download it for a higher quality viewing experience!
