  • My take on MidEastern/East Indian Design.

  • was in Delhi in January to see my sister wed her Indian-born groom. So much fun, I (almost) didn’t have the heart for photography. / Still, there were a couple of goodies, like this one taken a day of two after the wedding, with my sister as a new wife in full mehndi, toe-rings and anklets.

  • I Love Henna, the patterns are so amazing. After a trip to the Middle East in 2000 I was hooked on the tradition. Since that time, I have incorporated the henna patterns worked out on the palms of brides in the form temporary tattoos into my artwork…you see it here.

  • Two beautiful women rendered in Henna all around, from the back ground paisley to the henna patterns in the makeup and hair

  • This is a reminiscence of one of my nicest souvenirs from India, when I had this beautiful mendi on my hands… the guy that did it for me on the street is a real talent! Missing Indian essence…

  • The magical art of mehndi, or henna painting, has been practiced for centuries in India, Africa, and the Middle East, and now it has finally arrived in the West. Packed with inspirational photographs of traditional and contemporary mehndi. Indian women decorate their hands with Menhdi(Hena) during any festival or ceremony. These days it is rainy season(Sawan) in India and the ladies decorate their hands during this season to welcome rains. • Henna is used pretty extensively to decorate women’s hands during weddings in India. It’s called Mehindi in India At the mehndi ceremony, the future bride has her hands and feet intricately patterned with a paste which is a recipe of henna, oil, lemon juice and some water tinted with tea. The application of mehndi or henna takes about four hours to complete. Ideally, the bride-to-be should not wash her hands until the paste has completely dried. Mehndi has great significance in all Eastern wedding traditions, and no wedding is complete without the decoration of the bride’s hands and feet – in many cultures on both the front and back of the hands right up to the elbow, and on the bottom half of the legs. The mehndi night is something like a hen night in the West, with all the bride’s female friends and relatives getting together to celebrate. Mehndi signifies the strength of love in a marriage. The darker the mehndi, the stronger the love. More Info: / How it’s applied – freehand using what looks like a cake icing bag: Here 500+ views

  • This piece was created on 12×12 cream colored cardstock with markers, gel and gold paint pens

  • Seriously, have you ever spoken to someone who had such horrible breath you wished you were a picasso painting with your nose on the other side of your head? What would it matter, he would keep on talking, even with people falling out before him and the petals of the flowers blowing away! I remember this guy in my high school journalism class, he was in charge of sales and did well at it. I think he sold so much because they were doing all they could to get rid of him and with him being so tenacious, they would have bought the Brooklyn Bridge. Funny, I found years later that he became a Social Worker – really! This piece was created on 12×12 Strathmore drawing paper with gel pens and markers.

  • I simply love this pallet and would adore to have one room with these colors. Problem is, for me it would look more like a bordello or gothic. I like the red more than anything else. Once I got started it took on this tentacle – leggy thing with ink! The name of it was perfect! This piece was created on 12×12 Strathmore Drawing paper with markers and colored gel pens.

  • This piece was created on 12×12 Strathmore drawing paper with markers, gel pens, and pearlized paint pen.

  • I didn’t have much of an idea to name this work but i enjoyed doing the paisley so much as the background for some sort of textile. Then the fabric of the model has wrapped herself in made the title so apropos. This piece was created on 12×12 cream colored cardstock with graphite, percis black ball pen, markers, and gel pens.
