Hi to all pastel medium redbubblers. I am spending a lot of time with this precious drawing of Amy. I am going to call it “Amy’s Travels” and I am hoping to make this piece shine with the pastels. Here is my work so far. I am asking for handy hints, useful advice and anything you have learnt about pastels. Thanks Billy. ANOTHER DAY OF PASTELS…..

  • 457X610mm / Acrylic on canvas Inspired by traditional Japanese art I decided to explore the elusive yet beautiful world of being a Geisha. / “Geisha” ( pronounced ‘Gay-sha’ ) means artist in Japanese. The ‘real’ Geisha was not a common prostitute, the first Geishas were men who entertained patrons through artistry. The Geisha evolved into being the role of a woman in Japan, holding the equivalent status to celebrities today for their time. / The different forms of art they performed were tea ceremonies, dancing, calligraphy, painting, music, not to mention they were and still are walking pieces of art. Hence, these amazing iconic figures have inspired paintings with a contemporary edge. / Nicole Whitty / WhittyARt BUY Whitty ARt products at: zazzle.com/whittyart*

  • 18×22” mixed medium on black Arches paper / My Grandmother came to the US when she was 15 years old. She told me about the work of Aboriginal Australian artists almost 50 years ago. When I was in college I did a research paper with my own interpretation of a “dreamtime” painting and this was it. When some of my second cousins came visiting from Australia they saw it and told me I could never paint this kind of work in Australia because of the laws protecting the rights of “Aboriginal like” work. I never validated this information. I would like to hear your comments.
