I find that when I take one of these in the morning – the day goes a whole lot better…
As I finished this work this morning, I was soon reminded that my path must be sacred and true, as I witnessed 4 Bald Eagles and 2 Golden Eagles sitting along the river treeline, never since we’ve been here have I seen a grouping like this together. My body was tingling from head to toe and I got so caught up in the beauty, I could only take a few photographs (which I’ll share soon). / In Northern America, the Eagle was considered great medicine power. To the Native Americans there were different kinds and divisions of Eagles. The Golden Eagle had a very high rank. The most potent and magical was the Sky Eagle which the Iroquois called Shadahgeyah. Among the Hopi, the Eagle god was called Kwahu and according to their legends, this great bird seldom came below the clouds; only the holiest of Shamans ever saw it. Even the Aztecs said this bird represented celestial power and the rising Sun. / As a Solar Eclipse approaches with the Chinese New Year on 1/26/09, the thought behind this Mandala becomes more clear…”We Are ALL One Tribe” Rainbow Hoop Created with Wacom Graphic pad/pen and enhanced with Redfield plug-in fractilius filter and photoshop7
Honoring intuition, using discernment, outsmarting deception and trusting first impressions are some of the ‘medicine’ traits of the OWL. / The ‘Medicine’ of TRUTH…like the invisible owls you hear at night, your awareness in the midst of blackness, perceives reality. In the night you find illumination. Oh yes, the night is dark, but the world is still real for those who see with their intuitive side. / My dear sister Judi, as you learn to trust your clairvoyant nature, you learn that truth flows through you, much the same way silent OWL glides through the night. Honor this ability to serve CREATION…. My husband came in from outside, quite giddy with this discovery – a Great Horned Owl in one of our many Pine Trees surrounding the ponds that he was cleaning debris from. What a gift to be able to photograph her in the daylight hours, besides seeing her after discussing the medicine of her truths. As is photograph taken 2/18/09. WindOwl Eyes of Truth

ORIGINAL $2,800 plus postage and handling OK – I will try to keep this brief, but there will end up being a journal entry about dreaming sometime! LOL! Short version? Rolled over in bed one morning, yawned, opened my eyes and there standing at the side of my bed is this beautiful medicine woman with a wolf. “Paint this”, she said and the image was there in my mind. I was still working on the otters and seals celtic crosses and so had to finish them off. While I was doing that, the original vision morphed into the one you see before you. This mandala painted itself. The big powerful ones do. There is so much power in this painting that when I finished it and sat back to look at it, I cried. They were tears of gratitude and thanks. This is my gift to all for the New Year… Thank You Great Spirit for the gift that runs through me. Thank You for the joy it brings, for the power it bestows, for the healing… Thank You. I am blessed beyond all imagining. / Thank You. I am grateful for every breath I take, for all that I am, for all that I have. / I Thank You… From the campfire burning in the centre… / The four medicine women stand in the four directions. East with Eagle, South with Coyote, West with Bear, North with Buffalo. The hand prints to each side have the animals paw/talon prints overlaid – we are all one! Beneath each are the symbols I saw – Golden Door to the East, Talking Stick to the South, Drum to the West, Sacred Pipe to the North. The moons in their phases… / The Red Road encircling… The arrows leading out to golden bows… The Blue Road encompassing it all… The original is one metre square canvas gallery wrap, acrylic with metallic overlay.

This mandala is representative of the medicine of BEAR, which for Native American peoples, is considered (along with the wolf) as one of the last true symbols of the primal, natural world, and many ecologists believe that how humans respond and protect their lands and their future will be the most honest depiction of how serious humanity is about preservation of our environment and the natural resources within it. Also, the bear is considered kin to himans, because, like birds, it can stand and walk upon two legs. / Bear teaches us to go within and awaken the potentials inherent and bring them to the world and apply them. Introspection that makes accomplishing goals and dreams that we carry come to fruition. Becoming like BEAR and entering the safety of the womb-cave, we must attune ourselves to the energies of the Eternal Mother (Earth), and receive nourishment from the Great Void (unconscious/universe), where all solutions and answers live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities. / Each and every being has the capacity to quiet the mind, enter the silence and KNOW. / Bear resides in the West of the medicine wheel, symbolic of our intuitive/feminine side or right brain and to hibernate, bear travels within the four lobes where the pineal gland resides (lying just under the pituitary gland, behind the eyes, highly responsive to light waves)also resonating our Crown Chakra, the control center for the effective functioning of our physical, emotional and mental selves. / This also links us to our faith, attitudes, beliefs, values, conscious, courage and humanitarianism. This level and power abandons intellect and EGO to the power of passionate experience and “knowing”. / Bear medicine is ultimately knowing yourself ~ your body, mind and spirit ~ using your strengths to overcome your weaknesses, whilst knowing also that both are necessary in our evolution. Drawing photographed and edited, colored with wacom pen in photoshop 7 with redfield plug-in fractilius filter and coloring adjustments to finalize.
