This is an image that I have dragged out of the shoebox. / It’s a 35mm image of the main street on the Isle of Barra, with Kissimul Castle in Castlebay. / This is where my wife Dawns roots came from, as her maiden name is Dawn Shirley Elizabeth McNeil. / Once here family moved from Barra, they settled in Glasgow, as the whole line of men and women were spinners. / Dawn has been spinning now for 35 years and even dyes her own wool.
