  • Experimental Photography and Editing group Abstract digital artwork A part of my Abstract from Nature Mushroom series. / This is one of the images that came about from really pushing the process in Photoshop Elements 3. At some point it is similar to artists working with fractals in that you don’t create the composition as much as you discover it. / The artist needs to understand the foundation of visual art to know when the composition is “working” and importantly when to stop. The process gives a new meaning to “found art”, and has a wonderful way of exciting the aesthetic centers of the brain with the wonderment of childlike exploration and discovery. • Featured in Experimental Photography and Editing group Sorry to tell you but we have to go in again, / the investigation must continue, the situation / hasn’t changed, the colors are as bright as ever. / Our brushes have dried up, paint is scarce, we / can’t be sure how we will continue our art. We / ask you to be patient, we need your support, / our eyes are open, imaginations open, ears / are open, our time is now. Abstract digital artwork JPM © 2008

  • A late lunch after a great foliage ride in Newport. / Mom and dad like our visits to the Blue Plate Diner. If you stop in for a late lunch or early supper you can have the place nearly to yourself. The late day afternoon sun streams into the plate glass windows so strongly that the waitress asks if you want to blinds down. / Seniors are attracted because it is on level with the ground, the food is affordable and consistently good. The restrooms are clean and close by. / Yet in the late evenings the diner is transformed. It can be difficult to find a parking space. / Funky, fun, and always a great assortment of deserts. / American as apple pie and coffee, but I’d order a BLT or a hardy club sandwich first. • This image was shot from the Providence Place Mall looking eastward toward the Water Place Park. The Woonasquatucket River runs under the Mall and into downtown Providence, ( “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woonasquatucket_River”). / Along side of the river are the mainline Amtrak tracks 1 and 2 entering the Providence RR station tunnel, which also run east and west under the Mall. / The automobiles are headed north toward Smith Street on Frances Street. / I thought the layers of architecture were most interesting. I chose to filter the color out of the image in place of sepia using iPhoto effects. JPM © 2008.Dec / Leica V Lux 1

  • A major snow storm moved up the east coast piling a half to a foot of snow in various states along it’s path last night! Airports closed. Flights were canceled, autos headed to home or to safe destinations. Yet the trains were running nicely and mostly on time just the same. / In the meantime… / A quiet whispering might be heard in the darkness while the sparkling flakes of snow shooting twinkles of light past the lampposts and windows of the rural railway station created a very special winter moment of peace. / The train was still thirty miles away, but soon it would break the silence with the boldness of it’s size, sounds, lights, and presence! *Featured Work / “March Brings Snow at the Rural Railway Station © March 1, 2009” was featured in the groups: / The Art of Intrigue, 2009.03.07 / Art from the Cards: Best of Your Best Group JPM © 2009.03.01 / Leica V Lux 1 / raw file saved in png
