  • It was almost as if this guy walked up and posed for the photo. On South Plazas Island, Galapagos, Ecuador Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • A juvenile Leafy Sea Dragon (Phycodurus Eques) under the deteriorating jetty at Rapid Bay, South Australia. Until you get used to it, its very difficult to spot the dragons amongst the weed. They can be regularly seen at a number of sites around Adelaide. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • This is a merge of three photos taken in July 2006 on the banks of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. You can catch little fishing boats around to the villages on the edge of the lake. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • This is a merge of three photos taken from the lookout on the South Island, looking over the other two islands, on Koh Nang Yuan, Thailand. Koh Tao can be seen on the right side of the photo. The snorkelling is great in the bays between the islands and around Koh Tao, including big barracuda and reef sharks. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Panoramic shot of Palenque Ruins, in Chiapas, México. This was a Mayan city for several centuries, until the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. The photos were taken from the Temple of the Cross, and from the left you can see the Temple of the Sun, Temple XIV, Temple of Inscriptions, and Palacio. This is an amazing site in the Mexican jungle, and they are still uncovering new temples today. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • This Seastar (Uniophora Granifera) is commonly seen on sheltered rocks and reefs around south eastern Australia, and can vary in color from one individual to the next. This one was taken on Port Noarlunga reef, Adelaide, in about 5m of water. The Port Noarlunga reef is an Aquatic Reserve, and is very protected and accessible dive from the jetty. Organizations such as ReefWatch monitor the affects of the visitors to the reef on the marine life that inhabits it. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • This Sea Perch (Helicolenus Percoides) was photographed at Grange Tyre Reef, about 4km off West Beach, Adelaide. The tyre pyramids were put down in the 1970s by the Fisheries Department, and are now covered in dense growth and sponge life. This fish was quite happy with his artificial home, while I snapped away. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Taken south of Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, Canada. This was the second time this male breached, and luckily I was ready second time around. This was also the last time any of the orcas we saw breached. This was such an amazing experience, following a pod of around 20 orcas in such calm waters. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Leafy Sea Dragon hiding amongst the weed under Rapid Bay Jetty, south of Adelaide, SA. This was another quite small dragon, who was a bit shy of the big black thing floating around it. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • A Green Sea Turtle and Galapagos Sea Lion playing together in the shallows. This photo was taken while snorkeling off Floreana Island, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. If you look at the turtles for too long the sea lions start to get jealous and come over for some attention! It took me quite a while to get a shot with them both together, but it was worth the wait. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • This photo was taken during cuttlefish mating season in about 2m of water, off Pt Lowly, Whyalla. The small red cuttlefish is a female, with the large male next to her putting on his color display. The two smaller males coming in from the right are attempting to draw the larger male away from his partner, for their chance to mate with her as well! Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Red-Billed Tropicbird, on South Plazas Island, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. These birds nest on very narrow ledges on the cliff face. It took me quite a while to get a decent shot, they fly up over the cliff and away very quickly! Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Beauchamp Falls are in the Otway National Park on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia. This was taken after a trip to the falls festival, and it was pure indulgence after 3 days of camping with 13,000 other festival goers. Used shutter priority setting at 2sec. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Taken north of Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is amazing to meet the people who live in the little huts the area, tending to their rice fields, without power or other luxuries. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Taken at Shangri La Jungle Lodge in the Amazon Rainforest, Ecuador. The upper Napo river is seen in the foreground, and the Volcanoes of the Andes in the distance. This was an absolutely idyllic place, set on top of a cliff providing the most amazing views. We saw frogs, monkeys, bats, snakes and very large spiders to add to the excitement! Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Seastar (Pentagonaster dubeni) under Rapid Bay Jetty, South Australia. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • Hermit Crabs (Paguristes frontalis) having a disagreement under Rapid Bay Jetty, South Australia. These two are most likely competing for the limited number of shells that are avaliable on the sea floor. They were locked in battle for quite a while, unfortunately we couldn’t stick around to see who was victorious! Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia

  • New Zealand Fur Seal living in the colony on Althorpe Island, off of southern Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. Taken on Easter Sunday, the water finally calmed down enough to get out to the island from Marion Bay. The visibility was still very low, but when the seals come to you it doesn’t matter too much! • Mountain range off the road to Denali National Park, Alaska. The spectacular panoramic views were all around, and a clear view to Mt McKinley (not in photo) was well worth the drive. Being chased by a moose and seeing a brown bear from close range, from inside a bus luckily, added to an amazing trip in 2005. • Another shot taken during a night dive at Kona, Hawai’i. Its amazing to watch the Manta Rays loop through the water column, the two rays almost look like they could be a reflection of each other. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia Add to Watchlist

  • Taken at the Manta Heaven site off the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawai’i. The week that we were there they happened to be having record numbers of Mantas on the night dive, 27 individuals when we were there, the record of 36 was set a few nights before. A 45 min dive sitting on the bottom watching these gentle giants (the biggest were over 3m across) went by way too quickly, watching them loop between the bottom and the surface feeding on the plankton attracted to our lights. • Taken from the trail down to Pololu Valley and a black sand beach on the North shore of Hawai’i. The almost vertical cliffs are over 100m high, and provide spectacular views along the coastline. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia Calendar Add to Watchlist

  • This female Ornate Cowfish was nice enough to turn around and give me a smile, under the Edithburgh Jetty. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia Add to Watchlist

  • Small Leafy Sea Dragon near Wool Bay Jetty. While the dragons can be found at a number of sites around SA, Wool Bay is probably the most reliable. They blend in very well to the weed that they live in, but once you find one, usually you spot them everywhere! Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia Calendar
